Just wondering do I need to take the fuel tank off? Why did they make it so hard to do this?

Also, if you take your RHS rear fairing off next to the seat there's a plastic resevoir with a black cap and "LOW", "high" markers.. Is this the overflow? And what do the markers mean?

I have no water/coolant in that overflow...

well....u can get the cap off without takin the tank off but it is a bit of an exercise.
i used an open ended spanner which just fit in n was able to turn prolly 1/4 turn each time. wen it is loose enough u can undo the rest by hand.

the bottle u r talkin bout is the overflow bottle. u want the coolant level in this to be between high n low. just top it up.

anyway, hope that helps.

You dont have to take the tank off the bike. Just take the (front) nut and bolt off. and raise the tank a little.

My solution for that is i make a "dextrose type filler". Its just a plastic bottle with 3ft hose at the cap. Raise the tank a little and take the radiator cap off and insert the hose. and the coolant wil just flow down.

the plastic resevoir ur talking abt is for overflow. U dont have to be strict abt the level of coolant in that container. but it should be between LOW and FULL. the coolant in that resevoir will not automatically return to the radiator if needed unlike in cars. It is ur reserve coolant incase u need some u know where u can get it.

huh dunno about your bike, but when i took mine apart there was a hose that went from my coolant resevoir in the back of the bike to one of the radiator hoses. so when the coolant level gets low in the radiator, it gets som e from the resevoir.

It should supply the radiator directly. Do not let air get in the rad - I have only heard bad things happen if that occurs... (which is why it is important to keep the reservoir between low->full)

I checked the bike when i filled it up, saw that the engine was taking from the resevoir, so yeh. I put purified water in there as per the manual. Should I have put coolant?

Did a test on my bike too, the radiator fan doesn't work anymore *sigh* Ran the bike until it hit red... No fan. Can only assume it's rooted.

Wish I had the guts to take the bitch apart.

that hose ur talking abt is tapped at the neck of the radiator just below the cap.

Inside the radiator...if the coolant will overflow bcoz of the expansion from heat. that pressure will compress the spring of the radiator cap then the coolant will be directed to the hose then to the resevoir. Just like a pressure valve being open.

theres no way for the coolant from the resevoir to get back again in the radiator since the height of the resevoir is lower than the radiator neck.
thats the law of water pressure...same level same pressure. try to raise the level of your reservoir (no radiator cap)..then you will see that the coolant will flow down again in the radiator.

ders another way for the coolant to return back. raise the pressure in the resevoir. but atmospheric pressure is not enough. I use the atmospheric pressure since theres a hole in the resevoir. and theres no way to build up some pressure.

another way...lower the pressure in the radiator..lower than the pressure in the resevoir (suction).

but If the radiator cools down, the pressure will be lower.
but the pressure valve will be close and the return will be resticted.

Raaqi it doesn’t take a brain surgeon to take it apart and put it back right. Just give it a crack, one of the best ways to learn.

Thnx. I opened the radiator last night, full up right to the neck with green coolant. The bike shouldn't be overheating then should it! Wonder what the G-O is... It's not really over heating but in normal traffic if i'm at lights for a long period of time it likes to warm up 5mm before the red part, and if i leave it, it will probably reach the red. Did it once and pissed out coolant. But that was because i left it in the garage on idle.

Gota fix the fan though... How do I check the fuse? Where is it?

you shouldn't have filled up beyond teh 'hi' or 'top' marking (on the side of the reservoir). No worries though - it may just spill over a little bit. So if you see some smoke coming from below your right foot it is because of coolant on the exhaust (and coolant likes to smoke). Thought I should warn you and let you know it is nothing to worry about.

No i mean, i opened the radiator cap and there was already coolant right up to the cap! Didn't have to fill it up....

While im in motion the bike keeps pretty cool, but when im in slow traffic or stationary i gota be careful... SUcks
