wrecking fzr250 2kr

    hey guys, ill be wrecking my 2kr as of now. was a complete unit and running when i got it. pulled it apart mostly and its sitting on my garage floor next to some of my other projects. unfortunately i just dont have time to spend on it and will be getting a bigger bike in a few months anyway.

    but if anyone needs anything make me an offer and ill post what people take and whats left still as time goes by. feel free to PM me or call me on 0410609422 if you have any inquiries.

    is the engine in one pice?? how was the engine b4 the bike was striped?? I might be very interested in an engine...

    the engine has done 50k but was still running quite well as i rode it and gave it a good rev. the guy who owned it before me always serviced it properly as far as he said and he is a mate of mine. its still all together and has just been removed from the frame. seeing as i never had time to look at it past pulling it out of the bike i cant tell you much else atm. if you want it, engine+gearbox+clutch assembly for like $200. if that sounds reasonable you can have it <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D -->

    im not sure if the head is the same or not unfortunately. cant hurt to ask the more informed members of the site though <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) --> i just need the garage space at the moment and am quite happy to move it all cheap. also if anyone wants the fairing (all of them including the top and all the tail assembly with windshield) you can have them for around $400. just had the 2 side fairings plasti welded so all the cracks are gone. the paint is a bit scketchy but would be the perfect base for respraying and swapping onto your bike. the top fairing has snapped [​IMG]
    but would be easily fixable.
    also still have carbies and rims and forks and the rest of the bike ! :p

    I have very little understanding of what you mean...

    HMM perhaps you ment if you swap heads b/w the engines will it still rev??

    I have NO idea... I do think the heads are the same... but remember the cams, the cam holders, valves should NOT be changed b/w the heads. They are all machined together to fit that head and that head only...

    if you are going to be swaping heads... might as well get it reco or at least cleaned up... and while you are there change the cam chain...

    Im going to be up for my next head job in about 10000km. So I was thinking of geting a head and geting it recoed befor hand. But my bike is a 3ln1 and revs to 18500 and this bike is a 2kr so will the head blow at 17000.

    There is probably very little difference - without checking, I would say that the valve timing was altered slightly to to get the extra revs, so most likely it will just have less torque above 17,000 but on the plus side it will pull max torque a little lower in the rev range.

    Just change up a bit earlier. I rarely hit 17000 on my 2KR anyway.

    The only way to tell how the bike will react with a different head would be to fit it and then dyno it. When everyone says 'my bike revs to ###rpm' that's simply what's stamped on the tacho. The effective redline of an engine will vary greatly depending on the state of tune, the age of the engine, the condition of the valves, and any carbon buildup affecting airflow.
    The redline of a bike is the estimated point at which the engine has past it's efficient operating limit and is expelling more exhaust gas than can safely and efficiently be expelled.
