Heys guys just curious if anyones ran a 150/60 on the rear, im going to try it out with the alpha 13z and wouldnt mind getting some feedback on how it went, cheers aaron.
As always when fitting bigger tyres on the rear u need to check for clearance with the chain/chain guard, brake caliper n bits etc. Just changing the rear to a bigger profile without changing the front won't do much for your handling, if you can fit a 120/70 on the front do it as well. But generally the standard sizes are the best compromise of grip patch size and steering performance
Thanks for the reply mate, i have read on forums that it does fit nicely, besides abit of rubbing on the rear hugger, there's alot of various opinions on other forums, some say it was an improvement to stability through corners, which is what i want, but also affects turn in, which is not to much of a drama as they turn in insanely well so wouldnt mind sacrificing abit of that for stability, but yeah as for the 120-70 im not quite sure, might have to look into that, the suggested rear tyre size is 140/60 and i currently run a 140/70, may give the 140/60 a crack as it suggests.
Also don't forget tyre tech has come a long way since these bikes were released... if you can't get the standard size then the closest available thing should fit the bill.
i run a 150/60 rear on mine and think the bike handles itself better through corners, feels more stable when giving it abit. Have'nt really noticed a difference when tipping it in at speed, maybe slightly at low speeds it feels alittle heavier but nothing ridiculous. I've got gpr300's at the moment and they feel good through corners, alphas feel even better. also the 140/70 looks ridiculously skinny from the back of the bike which gave me the shits alittle.
Sweet good to hear, I ended up getting the 150 , they didn't have the 140 that day and didn't wanna wait for it, happy I went with it, much more stable and the alpha is so grippy, looks the goods too!
