ZXR250A 1989 - Track Bike Project

    Travel has been keeping me away from this project. Finally going to check the valve clearances this weekend, as advised, but not feeling particularly hopeful. Can anybody tell me the likelihood of obtaining engine spares like pistons and rings for the ZXR250A? The part numbers on the part schematic document don't seem to be specific enough. For example, the piston part number is 13001/13029, but the part numbers are normally specified as 13001-nnnn.

    This is a link to an item that ended but I think was relisted for ZXR 250 pistons has the part number and I know that shop has good stuff you might need. One tip when taking off parts like the crank case cover or Oil pan try to save save the gaskets if you can I just spent over 100 buck for 3 lower engine unit gaskets! Crank case, Clutch cover and oil pan!! I had to get them from the UK!!! I hope that link helps Mate. Depending on things go with my fairings dispute with the Chinese company? They just might send me a straight replacement and let me keep the other ones if so. I will give them to you for the cost of freight just to get them out of my shed!! No promises. if that happened what do you think? Sound like you would take them? let me know anyway so I can look into Freight costs ok

    That's a great lead for the pistons, thanks. That seller is out of stock but just having the full part number is a big help. Your offer regarding the fairing is very generous and I would definitely take you up on that, so good luck with the dispute.

    The valve clearance were ok so the head came off. Definite evidence of water ingress in the cylinders so will need to understand if it is simply a gasket failure or something more sinister. Feeling a little more hopeful now that I know that the pistons are replaceable, if need be.

    I was looking for Pistons and rings till I was told a couple months before my mate had his accident all the Pistons and rings where replaced. However I remembered seeing some rings sets, and some non factory Pistons that might be worth a look? Most of the engine parts like gaskets and carb o-rings, spark plugs and new spark plug holders I found in the UK they are OME I will find the links and send them to you. There is also a brilliant wreckers in Brisbane here is the number 0418 745 338 if they won't ship, maybe I can pick them up and drop them off at a courier for you? Anything else your looking for please let me know? I will track down those links and post them for you. Oh I am Cory by the way and I might be ask for some advice if that's ok?

    Ok well there is a few leads I have a few more to track down, there is a huge wreckers North of Brisbane and from what I hear they have heaps.
