    usually happens if they sit for long periods with bad fuel in them.

    Grey is on the money, some of these bikes are nearly a quarter of a century old!!! Some have been looked after but alas they are the minority. 4 cylinders + 4 carbs + neglect= a bloody mess. The carbs usually will require some major servicing. If you can find someone who does ultrasonic cleaning, DO IT! however if you're like the majority of us, you will strip the carbs, acquire some new seals, gaskets and clean these BAD BOYS, then you are pretty close to getting your bike going. Clean fuel supply is imperative, so clean your tank out, fit new fuel filter and your nearly home.:thumb_ups:
