yeah mate, every time rego transfers interstate, we need a roadworthy done, but my ZXR is still in Vic rego, so i need to re-register it in QLD (requires proof of purchase, current rego papers from previous owner, roadworthy)
yeah, should have seen this guy, had his little calipers out being all tedious and ****, hahahahahah... - as far as im concerned twin rotors on a 140kg bike is good overkill, even with worn rotors
ok gents, i've been very quiet and VERY busy since my (original 1988) brake discs failed roadworthy.... since i had some serious time on my hands, i decided to strip my bike.... because i could, and some tight spots needed a much needed de-grease,,,,,,, ok. AND! i tore off the brittle garden hose looking vacuum lines, then cut and replaced them with some nice insulated fuel line secured by stainless O-clamps, my carbies operated nicely-(if its not broke, don't fix it) so i just got them out anyways for a good scrub, clean is good. (also a good time to mention that the previous owner of this bike that stripped it down must have busted the rubber gaskets between the airbox/carbs, as all of these are missing). i then proceeded to create a budget pulley system out of old rope and removed both front and rear brake calipers, both wheels, all brake rotors, all nuts and bolts, and did a good flush on the brake lines, as the fluid looked rather dated... (like rusty water). ALL my nuts and bolts have had a nice bath in Alley-wash to nock off rust and make them look new too . i think its also worth to mention that i found no fuel filter.... is the filter inside the tank on the A model 88' ZXR's??? regardless, i bought a filter to fit the current fuel hose *input will be good on this subject* my front and rear discs are confirmed and on their way from china, NGK plug caps from UK, fuel cap assembly, all brake pads from pyramid parts are sitting in my PO box ^^ i know its all trivial stuff, but i'll post more pics (especially of my super heavy duty vacuum lines )
Youve done well cal ..... Theres probably mesh filters inside the tank but an inline filter is the go for the fine stuff.... make sure its fitted in the correct direction (there should be a flow arrow on it)
OMG, you have been busy Cal, well done mate and sounds like you will have the BEST bike on the block.
^^ added a few more snaps of the project so far, gutted out the old clutch fibers and plates to make room for a new set, and a pic of my new fancy brake discs from China (high quality surprisingly) along with the teardown.
ahhhhhhh minor setback, kawasaki shop thought my clutch was single steel plates, its a double on the zxr but i jsut called and ordered the other 4 steel plates. will have em in my bike wednesday
