i got my dad who is 6'5 and 130kg on my 250. Poor bike sounded like it was struggling before it left the driveway. still good fun smashing them through the gears and not worrying about ending up in jail.
Thats my point ..... Im certainly no Japanese jockey ...more like the horse ! As Ive mentioned before when I rode my mates FZR (carbs and valves done) before we started to pull it down , I went out my drive , up a slight hill , gunned it in first and the front wheel must have been close to lifting cuz I went holy f*** and changed to second in a big hurry ....... they have plenty of zip when running well .
definetley, dont think i would ever go without a 250 in the garage. Always cop **** for having a 250 but everyone who has ridden it has never had anything bad to say about it.
For sure mate ..... u only have to look around the 250s people own on here ..... alot of great bikes for many reasons ... not just for the 'learner' scene ..... if the authorities had any clue the 4 pot screamers we have would not be on the learners approved list. My pet hate is wankers who think its only cool to have some super duper over powered sports bike to alleviate their small penis syndrome.
yeah, seen some of those blokes around. The old super fast on the straights slow as hell through the corner. wouldnt mind a nice zxr750 though, next bike is definitely gonna be a 250 2 stroke and hopefully find a cheap zxr 250 and make it a tracky.
Yea a good plan .....Id like similar Id like to try an FZR 400,600 or a 750 ..... and an old 2 smoker to restore A ZXR or FZR 2fiddy for track would be great also ....if only we had a track here , or close by!
zxr400 was on the plans aswell, seen afew 400 trackies for sale, rarely road legal though, i have only seen one cbr400 in almost 2 years of riding. im about an hour from sydney so not to far to travel, just have to get full leathers and a trailer plus a track bike first.
Well first ride of the bike today- all my misgivings about the mighty cb250 coping were well and truly put to rest. With a set of throwover panniers full of uniform and a hefty pilot with a spare chin or two on board the ride to work was great. The bike ran smoothly and was comfortable and really fun to ride. There were a couple of things to adjust to but nothing major, like 4000 revs in top being 60 kmh instead of the 130 kmh of my last bike (gsx1400). Using a choke and an idle adjust again instead of fuel injection. Both incredibly minor things and really, the fact that this simple little bike can move me around and I'm involved in the ride makes me like it even more. I'm just loving being back on two wheels after a couple of years break and rediscovering something I enjoyed so much for a long time. The cb250 in all its glory
Definitely- my previous bikes were great on weekend rides but frustrating as commuters, especially the Katana 1100. It's satisfying having a bike that I've had to put work into to get on the road and that suits the role of getting me to work so well.
Nice bike. Looks like the same garage that the previous owner of mine had it in. You in sydney by any chance?
Certainly am, Eastern Suburbs. One of my neighbours used to park a gsxr750 in the same spot, athere was also a gpx250 and a 650 Vstrom there at different times.
It looks eerily similar to the spot my ninja was parked in http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/sydney-region/motorcycles/kawasaki-ninja-250r-ex250j-/1042194743 Ad is down now but the thumbnail shows all
Just around the quiet streets, no busy main roads or anything, but did have to contend with a few stop signs, roundabouts. And the bloody speed bumps they put every 15 metres...
Speed bumps: go to the gutter. Stop signs: good slow balance technique Round abouts: good slow leaning practice.
