Went and watched masters at Morgan park was great day got to meet simon and pick his brain about racing came home and put bike back together after service
i bought fiberglass and bog so i can repair my fairings oh the effort of it all....i hate repairing fairings )
What did I do to my bike(s) today? Cancelled an eBay order for a tank for CB250RS as the shipping from UK made it stupidly expensive. Still getting the smaller bits from the same guy. Rode the CBF250F to work, as usual. Will be scouting for a few more CB250RS parts later in the day.
So I had 2 parcels waiting for me when I got home this evening. The first one contained these wonderful genuine Honda tools, to start replacing Eric’s missing onboard toolkit: All good so far. The second one contained this after-market brake lever: On trying to fit it, I found that it’s not even close to fitting. I saw this on the label on the packet it came in: Looks like either they’ve sent me the wrong one or misrepresented the models it fits. Needless to say, I’ve contacted the seller. Hopefully it can be sorted!
I have purchased many parts from M.C.S. over the years, not encountered any problems. Looking at the tag would suggest the wrong parts was sent for your bike, should be easily rectified.
Hi, Read through this. http://www.jauce.com/ Enter "CB250RS" and see what comes up. I checked Yahoo Auction Japan and it pretty much mirrors what is on offer. Don't know your budget, but the parts are all good quality. Good luck, Ian B.
Took too long to edit - I'll check out JAUCE, looks like a few good things on there. Also keeping a eye on Gumtree as there are sometimes whole bikes on there cheaper than I can get parts for online. If I'm quick enough to snag one, I'll make Eric the Half a Bike a parts bike instead!
Yup. I use Yahoo Auction Japan a fair bit and the quality of stuff on sale is generally very good. I bought a load of FT500 running gear for my Harley Liquid-Cooled SST 250 project for low $$. Small bits are generally very reasonable. Of course, it depends on your budget. Also look up CB250RSZ on Yahoo Auction / Jauce as I think this was a Japan based hotter version. Not sure if they made it to Aus. Boosted HP, apparently. http://hobby110.jugem.jp/?eid=148 Ian B.
Already found and won a front mudguard cheaper than it would have been from UK/Europe. Looking at headlights next! Cheers for the link on the CB250RSZ - I'm going for the classic CB250RS look though. I'll start a restoration thread here eventually - in the meantime you can check out my progress on my blog.
I just recieved my inner and outer stator casings from all motorcycle wreckers in Tuggrah NSW, what heros! now all i need are yamaha to get me my gaskits and i can start putting my FZR back together!!! yaya! also....i defo would suggest using the guys at all motorcycle wreckers in tuggrah, all the wreckers in Perth that i rang were not helpful but these guys are amazing to deal with, reasonable postage aswell!!!
The postman delivered 2 letters this morning. Two registration stickers, one for my wife's car and one for the bandit. Attached was a leaflet stating that this would be the last stickers we would receive as the new system does away with stickers and will be replaced by scanners. Thought I should take a moment to reflect on no longer having to perform this exhilarating task??? that lasted less than a second, good riddance.
Organised a replacement of the incorrect brake lever with the seller - turns out the CB250RS 1980 brake cylinder I was able to track down is different to the 1982 one. Will be looking at getting the tank and fairings back on the ZZR250 tonight. Checked the old rego papers and she's a 1998 model. Time to hunt for another service manual, methinks...
Cleaned and fitted new wheel bearings to the rear wheel of the YDS-5. Polished the brake backing plate and sprocket carrier. Stuffed now.
Hey man, the wreckers here in Western Sydney have 3 CB250RS', I could enquire if you want. I'm sure shipping would be far more reasonable
