Yeah, going to have to use my "just in case" cover. Just need to guess another date, or see if I can get a refund.

I have been selling / giving away old parts to a local artist who makes “things” , he sent me a pic of his latest creation which I really liked , so I bought it

Check you have spark. Spark, fuel and compression are needed. Under 12v in a battery is a flat battery. Should be 12.4-12.6v

Got head...back from the machine shop ;). Parts washer cleaned up the inside and the intake ports really well. Outside left a lot to be desired, not that I didn't expect it to come out looking like a sun roasted coast turd.

Not sure if we have 'sun roasted coast turds' here in Aus. :lolsign:
Have you tried some alloy wheel cleaner (a mild acid) to clean up the head?

Not yet. Going to check * before I try to make it pretty. Paid for the premium membership yesterday here because I found a document about cleaning up alloys.... well that and I love the knowledge share here.

Reconditioning of Aluminium Engines covers reconditioning of the internals, not the external (unless it's not mentioned in the index). Pretty sure someone as already hit this head with some type of etch based on the patterns left after being ran through the parts washer so the damage may be "done", but here's hoping I can fix it without going through a ton of pain and $.

Not worthy of the project log, but I got the swinger off the back of the bike, and the chain guard off.

just inspecting things compromised the needle bearings with filth, so now I get to replace all of those after cleaning.

37k on the odo, I think I’m the first to have this off. Ewwwwwww. ACA09A41-C01C-4E8A-AFDF-0DAA41912B1F.jpeg ADF2FDA7-D00F-4007-A817-D797E380C5D6.jpeg

    Fun, isn't it!

At least you'll never have to replace the disc rotor. Those things will outlast the human race.
