Surprisingly it isnt much light at all.. and trust me... you need all the light you can get even in my little cabinet. When you have 20 plus lpm of slurry atomised by the air feed and it is bouncing off the item you are blasting.. you need good light. In that small area... nope it isnt too focused and why add another item into the environment like a diffuser lens.. the lights will become opaque eventually as the plastic is weathered by the slurry. These are the lights I currently have.. or very similar. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Pair-6I...4dba831c5367beae3008|ampid:PL_CLK|clp:2334524
So... just lapped in the valves on the SL125 and decided I would get a few new items for the top end as the PO was a bit of a butcher... Total $ for local supply (if they have them) is $65 Total from MegaZip inc freight is US$55 Total from Impex, inc DHL is A$46 I can wait for the Impex order
First time in 3 years since building my frankenstein kawasaki gt550 motor (uses zr550 zephyr head). I got it started and running. Very lively and rev happy. Also got the gpz250r going as well. cleaned the carbs and even with start-ya-bastard it wouldnt fire. Did a comp test 50psi both cylinders. Sprayed some CRC down the bores. Fired right up, runs like a champ now, no smoke and likes to rev. I'll do a comp test in the future to check but i want to give the rings a good chance to free up. Still no bad for a bike that has sat for over 10 years.
Decided the last day of the year would be clean up day in the Garage... so I even dragged the SRX out into the daylight... I dont think front end (big discs and all) doesn't look out of place on the bike. When it went back inside I started adding a few of the plastic panels... just as a mock up to make sure all matched up ok. I realised I cant use the centre stand on it either... must be why the 3WP doesnt have a centre stand.. it hits on the lower shock link... Oh well. Plus I have the Air box for the SL125 soaking in Rusted Solutions rust Remover... this stuff is amazing, this complete Airbox, battery case was quite rusty and it wouldnt come off even with a wire brush.
Thanks Brian... so many little things need to be done on the SRX... it can get you down sometimes but I need to get on with it...
I've had a few projects on the go for a while, like the YZ250 that I bought 3-4 years ago. Took a year to pull the motor down to wet blast the cases, another year to assemble the engine, another year to powder-coat the frame, and another year for this: I have spent months pressing bearing out of the suspension, now, I have to put in suspension and steering bearings, find and the missing parts, clean up the brakes, finish the carby clean and reassemble in a week so I can have it ready for my 40th birthday party next Saturday... As well as finishing of the little bikes and quads for the nephews and nieces.. I have too many projects! Does Murdo want some projects? Got a 1977(?) TC185 that needs a good home...
The SRX is looking very nice indeed , well done . The polished rim's really make the bike stand out , actually everything look's super neat. I'd have the bike in my garage , no problem. Hang on , it is going in my garage . Is that the muffler your using ?, or did i miss that post regarding it ?. It's a cute little thing. After seeing your rim's polished , i'm tempted to polish the lip's of my rim's , but factory pictures show's there in flat silver. Oh well , just think of the mess i would have made in my shed and we cant have a un-tidy shed can we .
Trust me.... polishing isnt a "clean" thing to do... I am doing some for the SL125 at present and umm yes... not fun. No, that muffler isnt staying... although it might be fun to have it on there for start up...lol (whenever that happens). That is my Dan Moto muffler (if you can call it that) that came on one of the VTR's I bought, it was set up as a flat tracker but was a write off so it was supposed to only be for parts sold it with the other VTR I had... The bike was deafening with this thing on but had a lovely rasp to it.
Oh. I was hoping it would make a good trials bike and run-around to take up the state forrest. The TS185 seems popular/well-reputationed.... And TC has electric start and dual-range!
Hi... my name is Andrew and I am a Paint-a-holic.... apparently. We picked up a couple of really good shelving packs from a friend who is moving to Qld and I decided to sort out all my paint etc to one place.. rather than have it all spread over multiple crates, shelves and so on... I ummm think I have a lot... At least now I dont need to buy any for a while....lol I have consolidated all my parts etc and once I can toss out all the crap.. I will be able to get rid of one large rack and have the Wet blaster etc parked in a single spot rather than having to move it around.
Sounds familiar. But you will still never have the colour or type of paint that you actually need for the next job.
I have a matte black but it has been placed at the rear until it decides it is going to behave and show some gloss.... I do have the paint I bought for the SRX (Spilt Blood Candy) but I am wavering towards something a bit darker.... possibly Black Cherry Candy!!!!!!
Sprayed the engine on the GSX250!! Will have some pics up soon Also I had issues with the GN250 starting so I disassembled and cleaned the carb in the trusty ultrasonic cleaner, put it all back together and to my amazement the bike starts first click!! (when things are going good its such a nice feeling) Also a young lad pulled up on his hotted up Ninja 250 ha ha - we got talking and then I fired up the CB400 for him and almost made him cry
More of a 'what did I do to the bike this week' rather than 'what did I do to the bike today', but finally finished putting the spare mc22 project back together. Pleased with how it turned out, and now time to move it on to a new home. With the continually diminishing numbers of good examples around these days I'll certainly be testing the market to see what it can fetch, but I think it will take a while - as people here would know there's more work involved that some would-be buyers would not appreciate.
OK I can see the light with the engine!! I still have to order some gaskets and get the emblem badges for the casings and a few things to tidy up like polishing the engine fins and stuff but overall Im happy with the result (Before) (AFTER)
