Happy Halloween everyone haha coming from a car background mechanically was wanting to know if its normal for the red oil pressure light to be on when the power is on but the motor is not. On my bike when i turn the power on the light is on but once i switch the motor in it turns off. I know in cars an oil light appearing means is usually too late and shouldnt get to that point. Wondering if this applies to bikes or at least our old ones? Sent from my SM-G900I using Tapatalk
You normally would have 2 lights on when key is on...green neutral light and red oil light. When you start engine the oil light (red ) should extinguish straight away, if it doesn't....you have a problem.
Awesome cheers phil. Just slowly fixing a few problems the bike has but glad thats not one of them. What intervals do you usually change your oil by the way? Sent from my SM-G900I using Tapatalk
Most service manuals state every 6000k's, however some do the oil change sooner depending on what sort of riding you have done.
Hey all how are we all? I was going through some of the threads regarding oils and wanted to know if there is a definite cheaper option for 10W 40 (thats what the zxr uses right?) oil for our bikes we can buy? Looking for a cheaper alternative to the Motul or Bel Ray (what i used last time) oils. Any good experiences with the alternatives that you would recommend? Sent from my SM-G900I using Tapatalk
Have been using the Castrol Active 4T in all my bikes for years and have not had any trouble. Around $35 for 4Lt at Repco stores.
Look for Penrite at Supercheap or Autobahn http://www.penriteoil.com.au/tech_pdfs_new/Jan2014/Product_Catalogue_Motorcycle.pdf
Sweet. Just so I know if i go the Penrite it must have the "MC" in the name right? (i.e. MC 10W-40?) so I dont accidentally get car oil
Fair enough mate. Thanks for the help. Do you guys prefer semi synthetic oils in the zxr over fully synthetic? Sent from my SM-G900I using Tapatalk
