Hey all just a quick update as some of you have asked about the zxr.

So far bit of leaking on the forks and gunna change the spark plugs on the weekend. Also it didnt start yesterday morning so charged the battery and it statrted first go with no choke so ill get around to getting a new battery soon. Gunna take it apart a bit as well with my dad on the weekend and have a proper geeze at a few things. Suss out the carbies a bit more.

She aint perfect but if she can survive 2 years for me ill be happy

Any pitting on the forks? I recommend you check under the dust seals. I had a set once that looked perfect, took the dust seals off and was pitted to hell under there. Would have eaten up new seals as soon at put in.

You can get a kit for the carbies, rebuild them, will make the bike run like a beast

Noob question but what do you mean by pitting? Also im the first to admit ill probably regret buying this bike because im limited in my mechanical ability. Im lucky i have my dad and father in law (mechanics/owned old bikes for years) to help me but at some point i see myself needing someone else to help me out. Whaaat have I gotten myseld into!!

Pitting will look like lots of rough little rust spots

    00_Tube_Pitting_L.JPG

You can easily remove the dust cap with a screwdriver or something it just slides off

Probably just needs new seals. May have never been done before. Most mechanics will do it for you or there are plenty of threads on the forum of people doing it themselves. Don't have a link on hand tho :p

I've never bought car/bike related stuff off ebay before so was curious if anyone has had a good experience theyd be willing to recommend?

    Guys,

After looking through the bikes manual in regards to air bleeder bolts for the cooling system i'm a little confused :/

It says to loosen the Water Pipe Air Bleeder Bolt and shows a crappy diagram for it as you guys probably know but where is the Cylinder Head Air bleeder bolt?? Does anyone have real pictures of these things?

Also are you meant to loosen them at the same time or 1 at a time? Do I only loosen the bolts until theres a flow of coolant coming from them right? (this means the air is out?)

Simple questions I know but i'm much more confident and used to working on cars then bikes

    Hey Lex
I have taken a couple of photo's of the rusted out one that was on a zxr250A model. I did not have a replacement part so pilfered a pipe off another Kawasaki 250 twin and fitted up to the bike.
The photo will show you where the bleeder was.
    002 (600x800).jpg

The next photo shows the rusted unit with the bleeder attached.
    003 (600x800).jpg

Hope this gives you an idea and helps out.

    Bloody legend!!!

So im assuming where the silver piping is in between the hose is where the bleeder bolt will be? Also is there more than one? because that was also confusing me the most.

Correct, the newish chrome pipe that I cut and fitted does not have a bleeder valve on it. The original one did as can be seen in the photo. Is there another bleeder....I'm not sure and I'm a tad restricted in movement at the moment so it's impossible for me to say. From memory @GreyImport had a similar issue with his, perhaps he might know?

Hopefully someone can help me with the second valve but thanks heaps for the info on this one :)

Is it like a car as in you slowly open the valve and once a consistent stream of fluid flows out you close it again (i assume this means the air is out?)

Maybe the second valve isnt essential to open?
