Pinned So what have you done to your bike today?

Well the other half of our team has just completed the Island classic after months of bike building.
Started out fine on a bike never ridden bar a couple laps locally to make sure it ran,
8th out of 32 in wet qualifying , fastest WA rider (rest are vj22 based sorted bikes)
A crash from trying to put the bike where it wouldn't fit and dropped down the list.
Blew the engine to bits in race 1 with rods out the side they think hydrolock, (might be the aftermatket fuel supply)
Luckily Sammc22 was on hand, sourced a $400 engine but it leaked water soon as they filled it,
all nighter to replace head gasket, then fronted up and didn't complete a race.

Now we have 12 months to get a fleet of MC22's and a van full of spares to do this properly in Jan 2017.
Hopefully I'll get to the final ASBK round at PI in October to learn the track.

 

Spent the day working on Eric in memory of mum. Got him to start for the first time, so video will be posted as soon as it's uploaded to YouTube!

 

Picked up a set of paddock stands in preparation for sprockets and chain to come. Checked the mail when I got home and guess what had arrived?

Got halfway through before realising I'd need more tools so I've only changed the front sprocket so far... All a learning experience and tomorrow I'll be finishing off the job.

 

No pics but I spent the weekend along Waterfall Way. The wet weather kept the HWP away and I had a blast... Only bad thing was the roadworks past Uralla. Gave the bike a wash this afternoon, including cleaning the chain and the wheels. No longer a member of the dirty wheel club

 

Fizzer Factory members off on a quick ride today out to Limbri.... but first, a stop off at Nanna's cafe for a burger and milkshake....

I took the CRM for a quick ride after installing the front sprocket seal. Runs like a champ! Can definitely tell it has some sophisticated electronics because it idles really funny (in a good way) and has heaps of torque down low. Quite a cool bike actually. Starts relatively easy too with a good kick in. I've put it on Gumtree but if it isn't sold by March I might take it on the Killarney ride.

 

Painted early today to miss the wind and after I got the colour on it start to sprinkle. put every thing away and guess what it stopped.

Took a few things off.

 

Got the vt started yesterday, runs great but I think it has a starter issue. It makes a massive internal smashing noise from time to time when starting and locks up. But eventually starts and runs great. Just need to get the temp gauge working tomorrow before I test ride it around the yard at work

Mate it might be worth checking to see if anything has come a drift and fallen into the bottom of your engine or sum that may be getting picked up and interfering with the crank, eg like a fallen cam bolt or something that may have made it past the bottom of the timing chain.

Yeah. It's probably a good idea to do that first Gi. Although it does start up fine most of the time. Not sure where the noise is coming from other then the engine lol. It is a massive knock sound as the engine stops turning

Couldn't agree more, definitely worthy of checking, may be missing a tooth or so on the starter cog and binding or locking up when winding over.
I just remember with the old 400 one of the sprocket bolts on one of the cams working its way into the bottom of the engine and every now and then when winding over of the engine would create enough of a current that it would pick up the missing cam bolt and wedge it into one of the lobes or wheels of the crank shaft (not sure if it was lobe or wheel as I couldnt see inside it when winding over lol).

But the starter test is less messy and at the top of the engine so thats where I would be starting
