I picked this lil lady up last night, a good strong runner with 44000 on the clock, the little bracket that attaches the clutch cable to the clutch acuator is broken, which should hopefully only be a $10 fix. The seat needs recovering and she needs a paint job... IMO, this is a cool lil commuter  Specs GSF 400 Bandit V 1991 Overall Length: 2 055 mm (80.9 in) Overall Width: 705 mm (27.8 in) Overall Height: 1 060 mm (41.7 in) Wheelbase: 1 430 mm (56.3 in) Dry Weight: 172 kg (378 lbs) Engine type: Air and oil-cooled 398 cc inline-4, DOHC, 16 valves. 59 hp / 12.000 rpm, 3,9 kg-m/ 10.500 rpm.
Well done Chris 8) The engine sounds great, very powerfull compared to the standard model. I had a GSX400 model and it went well, this model has some extra grunt. Have wanted a variable valve control model, recognised by the red head. Can't wait to get the clutch sorted so that this lady can show us her "WARES". I like it  Phil
It seems we have picked up the cream of the crop when it comes to the Suzuki 400 bandit, they range from 51hp to 59hp and this one is the 59 HP red top motor with variable exhaust valves. I located a 2nd hand clutch acuator at a wrecker in Melbourne and all going well it should arrive today. Phil noted one of the carby floats was dodgy, a quick check of the spares bin found a suitable replacement so she is all good and running on all 4 cylinders. The seats have been dropepd off at an upholsterer so they can be recovered. The tank and panels were picked up by Bob aka Ace of Sprays on Saturday so they can be painted, Seeing as though this will be Phil's bike once he sells his CBR1100 he has chosen a bright red (same colour as the X7 paint). Bob is getting Rod from Cutgraphix to make up the bandit decals. this is going to be once cool naked when she is done !!!
This bike got me going from the moment I l saw it. Being a 1992 model, celebrating 20 years and being in such good condition, what can I say, just like it. After removing all panels, found the frame to be in top condition, very few marks to speak of! Once we sorted the carb issue and pumped some juice into the battery, she just fired up and sounded sweet 8) The clutch part did not arrive today, tomorrow's another day. Oil changed, new filter and air cleaner tidy, she's ready to go. Think this will be one sweet ride, time will  tell. Phil
UPDATE The clutch part arrived from Melbourne, promptly fitted that up. Sorted an electrical issue and sorted the front indicators. Fitted 4 new plugs. Got a call to say the seats are ready for pick up, will collect them in the morning. Gave the chain a good clean followed by some good lubricant followed by a little adjustment. Will keep you posted when the rest of the parts arrive. Phil
Collected the seats today, our upholsterer John has performed his magic once again. Everything is done, we wait for Bobs magic with the paint. Can't wait to see this bad boy on the road!
