Good news! This morning I got an email from the officer saying that he won't do a police report for me. I called up the insurance company for an update and they said they still couldn't get on to the other party. I was about to message the other party but half way through I got a call from a private number ... it was someone from the Recoveries department from my insurance company. He said that he's happy to progress the claim, he was going to call the witness to make sure what I said was correct and to also call the company who has the bike to see if it's repairable or if it's a write off. He also said they will chase up the other party, and he said he will take my word that the other party said to me that he doesn't have insurance. So I can finally relax a bit! I asked if I could get a copy of the quote and was told to speak directly to the company who has the bike. Called them up and they said that they have done a complete loss report (too damaged to do a proper quote). Hopefully either tomorrow or early next week I get an update from the recoveries department and get settled shortly after.
Good News I guess, hope this issue gets settled promptly for you and you can move on...... waiting is hell.
Glad you're OK mate that looks nasty... Having ridden an across and a bandit (albeit my bandit needed work still) I don't think they're that similar. On paper it may appear so but I find they run quite differently. The bandit, even in the condition I had mine in (which had head problems) was quite punchy and had grunt the across couldn't touch. Eventually it may have given my FZR a run for it's money. The across... bit like my old ZZR was in my opinion disappointing. Bit of a smooth all rounder but nothing overly special. Having spent many hours on my bandit I'll say this pretty flatly - they're great bikes as long as they're running and you don't break them. If you do, be prepared to wing it with limited information and very expensive parts as info and parts aren't as easy (or cheap) to find as you think. If I had known all that I may have thought twice about my attempted rebuild, it caused many headaches. If you don't break it and it's well looked after, I'd take the bandit hands down. Some are 40HP some are 45HP. I think the earlier ones (pre-92) are the 45HP ones, up to the GSF250N. The GSF250P was what I had, it was a restricted version.
3rd party fire and theft with GIO. They also cover if you're not at fault and other party is uninsured.
Okay so, I went to have a look at a Bandit - looked good but I did notice thanks to some photos that the KM's were wound back. I took it for a ride anyway, couldn't say I liked it. After that I went to Peter Stevens - had a look around, sat on a few bikes. I liked the look of the new CBR500R/300R the most but they are still pretty pricey being new. example: I've been speaking to Chris a fair bit, when I first told him he suggested the MC22 - I didn't really want another full fairing bike but that's now back on the case. I also didn't realise that there's 2 companies that do kits for them. So, I may look for another cheapy to fix and change the fairings. There's a couple on Bikesales that have the kit but I haven't been able to get in touch with the seller. example: So, that's where I'm heading at the moment. An assessor from the insurance company is going to phone or visit (most likely phone) the repairer for the Across on Tuesday. I have spoken to the repairer and they have already done a total loss report.
Mate, I think you have done the right thing....go and have a look. Several ways of looking at your situation 1 Lash out and buy a new bike, they come with all the goodies + warranty and assured parts availability.(peace of mind) 2 Lash out and buy a grey import bike, million K's, not all parts are readily available, nil warranty and can cause hair lose. Tough call.....depends on you. For the daily commute.......perhaps 1 is the go For sheer exhilaration the Grey Import (2) must be your choice. The new bikes are nice but seem sedate compared to 20K revving 250cc bike. So you have to make some decisions.......choices have to be made, wish you well.
Just put down a deposit on a 93/94 MC22(N)! Awaiting RWC and then I can pick her up. I had a look at a few MC22's but this one was the pick of the bunch. 64000KM's, one owner in the last 10 years & the guy barely rides it anymore. Runs really well, starts easy & pulls well throughout the rev range. Has a couple of minor fairing cracks, unless you can get a decal kit (tri colour) I don't think I'll be repairing them any time soon. The chain is a bit gritty but is defiantly not dry, might give it a really decent clean and see how it is - may replace it depending on results. The Across makes a great commuter but this thing really goes compared to.
