    Mum used to say that.
I used to believe it. Then I realised I was spending more on my helmet than the buy price of some of my bikes.

As long as it fits comfortably, safety standards are met or exceeded and it has the features I want, I'm happy with it.

Considering helmets are meant to be replaced after a crash even if you don't renember hitting your head, I'd rather replace a $50 helmet than a $500+ one.

As long as it does the job!

Downside the that Fred is that Australian standards are so out dated most aren't actually safe :/
Well, they won't kill you but they are so heavy in many cases as to cause serious damage.
That being said the Aldi ones are supposed to be euro rated which is a bazillion times better than ours

True I don't buy 500 helmet or 50 I buy I between but I look for wat it's made of and 50 bucks I would assume they making money which doesn't leave a lot for quality materials just my opinion I don't put my head in one and if u want to that fine

Tamworth ALDI was pretty busy. When they opened the roller doors, people literally ran in and went in through the checkouts. Caught up with @Murdo just before opening time.

Picked up thermal lined gloves, a balaclava, and 2 pairs of socks.

Lots of people grabbing the full face helmets, boots, leathers, and kevlar jeans.

They didn't have boots in my size and I was second into the bloody store! Still managed to grab some jeans and gloves.

The new jeans with body armor built in look good. Got a pair for myself and the pillion.

Went a bit nuts to be honest - Also got boots for myself and pillion, $80 full-face helmet (to replace the $300 one I was wearing when I crashed), two mid-layer tops, neck and face masks, three pairs of socks and a backpack.

my aldi was empty and I just got whatever I wanted, it was all there in every size lol.
Tried on almost everything. Ended up only getting 2x the wool top, the under layer leggings (which feel AMAZING! Try them without underwear, you can thank me later) and the rain jacket.
The gloves didnt feel right, the leather on the jacket and pants looked crap. I tried on the helmet and it was like ehhhhhh not as comfy as the Rjays spartan helmet. But yeah the wool tops and the under leggings are hectic! I am 5ft9" and 80kg medium was the best fit.

Haven't tried it out yet but it looks pretty decent. Comes with a built-in helmet bag and rain cover.

I couldn't find the blue tooth kits at my store but probably for the best, music or other distractions probably isnt the best idea while riding.

There was more rush for the lawmowers at my local aldi than the bike gear lol

Damus - they keep them at the register. You have to ask when going through the checkout.

Not bad. They take a full sized helmet, but the helmet swings off the back

I saw they were the same ones as the one I bought last year so didn't bother.

The headphones are decent but those on the receiving end of calls have told me the mic is crap.

Will be putting the money I saved on riding gear into a decent intercom set - maybe even an integrated Bluetooth/helmet cam...
