Interesting new carbs, they have a clicker that has 3 positions for the throttle, is that going to be a problem for a road bike?

Also the butterfly seems to be in opposite position from my original carbs, just a different way of getting airflow right?

This is a slide carb, needs a cable in through the rubber bit at top. The bit with the 'o'ring bolts to the engine. The butterfly and clicker are the choke.

I wonder how some OKO flat slide race carbs would go on one of these.

Whoa, different carb's is a big gamble & guarantee they won't work.
What made you buy them ? I'd be paying the $160 for the right ones, it'll save you a nightmare, adapters , jetting, cables.
Give it a go first seeing you've got them, you look like your pretty handy. Let us know how it goes.
    Good luck

I found a guy throguht a mate, who is doing the front guard, tank, seat and frame for $1000. WAit till you see my design, its not simple haha.

Ya, it struck me too, if I hadn't done so much work already I think i'd be a little daunted. Its just the fiddly tuning and setup things that will bug me. The rest is ready to (pretty much) bolt on

She's starting to look like a bike again, need to wrap the loom in tape and route it properly

I have a problem guys, how am I going to make a new throttle cable that splits like a Y into two separate carburettors? Has anyone made cables before? Got a kit or any tips?

You will need a three piece cable as used on something like a GT250 Suzuki/Yamaha RD250 etc.

I'm not sure about the length, I might have trouble adjusting it because of how close my clip ons are. Any recommendations?

    Hi Ben

    Hey Phil,

Yes, sorry split over two threads. I got some Mikuni round slide carbs for my bike, which arent coupled together and require separate throttle cables. And because my old throttle cable is long, and my clip on bars are much closer the length is wrong. I cant even modify it because the sleeve is way too long. So i need to buy a 1 into 2 throttle cable for the new carbs.

PS Reasons I got new carbs - bowl thread to prime L carb is stripped and its leaking petrol, worried it will leak at speed onto the tyre. 2 the old carbs adjuster screw to adjust the choked is stripped, and therefore I can't uncouple and clean the carbs out. New bowl has to be bought in a full assembly from suzuki for $550 ex gst, two $80 carbs and some jets can't be anywhere near as dear as that.

    Hey Ben
Pleased that my mind(brain) hasn't gone completely :lolsign:
Think that Murdo is on the same page with twin cables from an early Suzuki gt250. Having said that, the length will become an issue?
Separate carbs, different bars, I would perhaps contact a cable maker who can take some measurements and get you the exact size required. I purchased an X7 set for under $25.00 but it has the 3 cable splitter, one for each carb and the third for the oil pump.
We have a fellow here on the Sunny Coast who makes cables but you're in Victoria..............big stretch.
Sorry I can't be more helpful, keep us posted. The bike looks great, coming along nicely.:thumb_ups:

So the finicky part is over! I found an engineer with an M4 thread tap, aligned my POSH Jpn Switched and finally mounted them. The square holes for the 3 position switched were the hardest because of the internal diameter of the bar. However with a bit of gentle dremmeling and rough filing back we made them fit! They are flush and bite well into the thread. Props to my mates mate Alister for helping me out

    What do you guys think? Nice and neat? IMG_0011 (1).jpg IMG_0013 (1).jpg IMG_0019.jpg IMG_0020 (1).jpg IMG_0021 (1).jpg
