Sorry for getting of on a tangent in your thread I was a little fatigued yesterday after a full day at the track and was enjoying a little liquid relaxation lol.
What rodeobob says is correct in your case, if you are only doing shims there is really nothing that is running in. The heat cycling I mentioned is running a new motor up to full running temp a few times and them letting it cool down in between runs, this allows any components expand and seat in gradually. This technique is particularly useful when building motors that are built to tight tolerances, it reduces the chances of anything binding up. The robust run in methods are generally the opposite of what the manufacturers recommend, as in using the full rev range of a motor from the start (including engine braking). The reason this helps is that rings in particular bed in a very short time and the use of more of the rev range beds them in better/quicker, this increases the seal between the rings and the bore thus promoting maximum compression and reducing blow by and oil getting past oil control rings.
I used this method on my current road bike (daytona 675) with great success, I have been using this method with a variety of motors for many years.
My fzr is being built for the track I plan to race in clubsport lite class, it should be a fun class to race and not to expensive.

OK guys, valve adjustment finally done! Just re assembled camshafts and caps and checked clearances, all within spec-just!

Tomorow I will re-oil valvetrain, torque up parts, replace cam cover (with new gasket) and it's time to put the motor into the bike!!!

Wish me luck!

Hope it all goes well. I know when I do work like that, when it fires up I hear all the little rattles and think the worst. But they usually quieten down quickly as everything settles in.

Thanks guys,
Today all the important bits went in, and it started nicely.
Unfortunatly I have coolant leaking from the metal pipe which connects to the engine and thermo housing. It's a real pain but I think I can whack it into place tomorow. Other than that its going fine.
Plenty of pictures to come when I get time.
Stay well

I rode the bike today!!! Best feeling. It runs excellent, far better than my old one ever did. I even like the sound of the stock exhaust.
I've taken lots of snaps of progress shots.
That leaking pipe was fixed today with 2 new O rings, (free Kawasaki Brighton) and a bit of a gasket sealer.
The only things I need to do are remove some oil, as I overfilled it somewhat, re route the clutch cable, and attach side fairing once I know its all fine.

I'd like to give a huge thankyou to the members of FZR250.com for all the help and support, without you guys theres no way I could've done this. Enough said, heres the photos.

I think it looks great, and when I put the side fairings on it'll be even better.
