Bike arrived today so got straight into it.
Turns over but will not run. Seems I have spark in at least # one cylinder, but not in # four.
Did not check the others yet.
I have some lights working. Front brake is sticking. Need a screen, two mirrors and the fuel cock.
Surprisingly clean generally speaking. Tank is pretty crap so will have to look at that.

Think I just worked out what I am doing this weekend.
A few pics to tide you all over. (the oil is from the car)

Seems there is some sort of language filter? Maybe I will call it the 'fuel tap'

For anyone interested, watch this space.
Going to get the bike running, clean her up a bit and sell.
Seems the project with my daughter won't be happening as she is too small to ride the bike.

That would be very disappointing for you.

Ok, not selling. At the moment. Having a bit of fun playing with something different.
Anyone got any suggestions for some coils? Mine are kaput.
Also have a few body parts coming (hopefully) from a dude who bought a bunch of stuff from a closed bike museum in QLD. FGoing the red/silver route.

If the resistance is the same then any twin lead coils that fit should be ok.

Oohhh! I saw one of these a while back and would have loved to buy it if I didn't have my ZXR at the time.
Keen to see this restored :D

Well, got a set of coils from a local wrecker. Off an Across. Stuck em on, hooked up the ghetto fuel tank, flattened the battery twice, but she lives.
Occasional squirt of 'start ya bastard' to keep it going, but its a runner.
Bugger of a bike to find spares for however. Might have to import a second bike as a donor.

Not pulled the slow jets, but pulled the carbs.
None of the 8 hose clamps were tight so they have been off at some point.
Gave them a clean and found this.
    Salvageable?

Butchery at its best .... as well as typically butchered JIS screwheads

That pipe is a choke pipe ... I had to repair one on my FZR carb .....mine had just came out but yours is broken ..... I used epoxy to seal mine in.
I would clean it out and hold it together and epoxy around it to hold it in place and seal it.

OK. Not sure of the condition of the carbs so went looking.
Guy has an across he is wrecking.

Asked for an offer on carbs (bike was apparently running when stripped)
$100? should i persevere with mine?
Sorry, carb newb. Injected up till now.

Yes GI. Butchered. Seems a simple thing to use the correct driver on a screw.
The bike seems to be a bit... um... disorganised?
Frame is almost perfect. Clean, mostly rust free. Fairing is almost perfect (apart from teh drop from the PO) Other bits (carbs, seat, chain, sprockets, front brake siezed) show a lot of age.
    cheers

    Hey Rossko

They are not the same carbs as what's fitted to an Across, can you see a part number on yours?

These are Across carbs , I had heard they were on these bikes, but I am wrong, sorry for the curveball
