For those tiny holes I use a piece from a wire brush. For smaller ones, bristle of a toothbrush. A bit of physical force helps clean 'em out. Looking good though, don't hurt yourself with all that power! :D

Haha stu, I have owned quite a few larger bikes with more power , the clean up went really well, I reassembled the carbs and set the mix screws 2.5 turns out. She started easily and I hooked the gauges up to balance them which was easy , she is now purring like a kitten

new boots on today, new rear brake pads and a chain clean, guess what... did a sneaky around the block and it rides better than it looks, I feel like I am in a big Caddy compared to the Cibby, she pulled nicely through the gears.

The front brake pads are way down ( almost metal on metal) , they are next on the list but not until I get some cash.

    Im stoked.....

front pads are done, my son even helped me bleed them with fresh brake fluid... I also snuck in another couple of laps around the block, might have to set the kids up with a stop watch so they can track my lap times

What carby tuner do you use @kiffsta?

Do you make sure to do a PPSR check on these cheap-gumtree bikes?

Wouldn't want to put all the time & effort into a stolen bike cause if you try and rego it it'll come up as stolen and they'll take it away from you :/

I use a Carbtune to balance them, awesome bit of kit.

The mighty ZZR had been sitting for a few days it was running poorly again, Phil dropped by on Sunday so we got stuck into it. I thought the plugs may have been the culprit so we replaced them with shiny new ones, the old ones weren't pretty, I suspect from the PO cranking it when he tried to start it. We also found the return throttle cable had snapped, I now have one on order which should be here in a few days. Kawasaki wanted $47 for one, but I found one on-line, genuine Kawasaki for $15 plus post out of a Perth dealership.

Phil backed the air fuel mix screws from 2.5 to 2.25 turns out and as it was running a tad rich, that seem to fix that. I pulled the carbtune out and balanced it again with clean plugs, they were a tad off but now she just purrs. Once the throttle cable is fitted, I think she is ready for a license plate , alas its not going to be in my name.

I knew when I saw this old girl that it would end up in my Dads garage @Phil , you see Phil has a few things he looks for in his bikes, these being :

    Centre stand - Tick
    Fuel Gauge - Tick
    Twin Pipes - Tick
    Comfy Seat - Tick
Suzuki on the tank - Doh.. well 4 out 5 isn't too bad

So on Sunday after we sorted it out the plugs, he was all over it like he was on a first date, it was then and there that I let him know it was for him all along. When I arranged the tyres for it, my bike shop got me a special deal as they knew it was heading his way. You see Phil gave me a bike many years back when I got my open licence, feels bloody good to return the favour :thumb_ups:

My journey south on Sunday morning reminded me that winter had indeed arrived.....bloody cool.

I hadn't ridden the Bandit of late due to problem with me leg, so first ride in about 3 weeks. The ride was good but I realized that I had not checked tire pressure and it was noticeable on the rear. Pulled into the BP at Caboolture to check the pressures, as I pulled in past the pumps I spotted a large.... very large motorcycle parked at the pump and for you Fizzzer fans.....it was a FZR1000 GTS.
Bit rare to see one on the road, last time I saw one was at the motorcycle museum at Haigsley. The chap pushed it over to check his tires also and we chatted a bit. My tires back to normal pressure (practise what you preach Phil) I headed for Chris's place, an easy 45 minutes away.

I had seen pictures of the ZZR600 but it was so much better in the flesh....so to speak, bike was immaculate in every detail.
Certainly ticked all the boxes as far as I was concerned :thumb_ups: Little did I know that this beautiful machine had been ear marked for me :D
I am eternally grateful and humbled somewhat to be given such a wonderful gift, what more can I say, I have a wonderful son:)

The day was spent playing with my new "toy", the RS 250 and making sure everything was correct on the zxr250A that I was going to get registered the following day.

Monday morning everyone headed off to work, I headed to the post office to send @Damus his part and then onto the mechanic to get the roadworthy done and then onto the department of transport for some rego. By lunchtime it was mission accomplished, Chris has a registered bike to ride and she rides really well...front brakes are awesome :thumb_ups:
Well the afternoon was spent playing with my new bike. It is my intention to get it registered within the next couple of weeks, can hardly wait.
Tuesday mid morning was time to head home, really wanted to ride the zzr home.... won't be long!!
So, did I have a good week end, you better believe it, I am a very lucky man......thanks @kiffsta.
