They couldnt afford the amount of beer require to fix that! Haha. Thats like my mates toyota cavalier, was leeking coolant and over heating. Turned out to just be a corroded hose clamp that had rusted away, we just put a new hose clamp on, but the thermostat was behond the motor between the fire wall and motor about mid way up. Tried for about 2 hrs to get the two bolts but gave up in the end, needed a small 1/4" set to get to it really! Damn american cars! Haha

Quick update, ran threebond green through the carbs and intake, man that stuff works! bike still bogging down at about 6-8k, but as i rode up and down our street it started to get better, have to wait till i get it road legal and go on a nice long ride, somewhere outside my street lol. I think its just been sitting a while and just needs a good run, that's what it felt like anyway!

No pics today sorry, i got too carried away!

Quick question, for someone who may have a quick answer, had a look for fuel mixture screws on the carbs, cant see em, am i completely blind?

    Nice bike Hamz.
At least aftermarket & genuine parts for the RR model are easier to find than the R model like I have :(

The resistor trick works well, did it to this bike also as a 'just in case'

I had sporadic bogging at 5k RPM and the engine would die or feel like it was running on 2cylinders. After weekends of testing and swearing it turned out to be a dodgy earth in the indicator flasher can relay.
Found an aftermarket one on ebay for ~$7 and it immediately took away the engine limit problem I was having.

A dodgy earth in the indicator relay!? So random. Thanks for mentioning that. Ill pull the relay out and make sure all connections are good. I am handy with a soldering gun ;)

Yes there are heaps of parts! I am eyeing up the Lamborghini orange tiger fairings from @XCite Bikes (its my birthday soon ;-) ) haha. Went and saw @Moo race today, got the blood pumping, cant wait to get on the road! I am almost tearing my eyes out!
    Things still to get are:

    - new lid and key barrel for fuel tank (on its way)
    - Front and rear tyres
    - Carby rebuild kit (just seals, will look at bigger jets after i start to really get into riding, may not need them?)
    - oil filter (on its way)
    - Air filter (on its way)
    - front and rear brake pads (on its way)
    - forks seal kit ( not sure, looks like a little leakage, will have to consult uncle google and aunty youtube for guidance on the task at hand!)
    - Riding gear (jacket, gloves and boots)

    And more cosmetic stuff:
    - New Fairings
    - New arrow type indicators
    - LED tail light
    - tinted wind screen
    - new or paint engine covers left and right as they are scuffed.

Also a question for the experienced, my baffle is loud and sounds great, but i dont always want a loud drone in my ear, and for the sake of getting re registered, would steel wool in the baffle work? Currently there is nothing in there.

Cheers guys, and nothing else been done yet. Waiting on parts :)

steel wool will work and you can get muffler packing at a bike shop.

Just put a Litetek kit thru your carbys

As for jets .... just check it has the correct stock jets in there .... the bike is designed to run with stock jets , airbox and exhaust.

House roof insulation (pink/yellow bats) will also work to quieten your muffler, but will burn out in a few months and have to be replaced. Steel wool is better as doesn't burn away as quick.

Got some steel wool today and suceeded in makeing the baffle.... louder... oh wait, its meant to be more quiet... hmmm

Getting the baffle off, first timer here, loosing my baffle virginity! as they say, its a little over rated!
    20150427_092213 (Small).jpg
    insert here?

    Baffle out, rivets drilled out
    20150427_094210 (Small).jpg

Rolled the new stuff and wiggled in the excess, it was a bit wide (The new wool that is!)
    20150427_100459 (Small).jpg

She was a bit loud now without the old crap in the middle, so i stuffed some more steel wool in the middle with this little grate thing... Quietend her down alot, enough for new plates (or plate?) i hope!
    20150427_104147 (Small).jpg

and heres the old stuff, it was all wet when i pulled it out, is that normal!? (the old wrap that is!)
    20150427_104213 (Small).jpg

As i have no experience to referance my work, im to assume job well done! and a better performance next time!

    That's all for now folks!

    cheers

If your muffler is a straight through pipe then you won't quieten it down much unless you insert baffles (metal sheets) in the centre of the muffler pipe to force the exhaust gases to have to go around the baffles before it escapes out the end hole.

The more baffles and the more directions the exhaust gases have to travel the quieter your muffler becomes.
Also the more richer you'll be making the mixture, so depending on whether you have bigger (richer) carb jets you may need to go back down in size to stock jets (lean the mixture) if you quieten the muffler down heaps by inserting too many baffles.

I'd say the wetness is a mix of condensation, unburnt fuel and exhaust oils/carbons.

So after a bit of reasearch i found out how a baffle actually works, and here's a picture showing my problem:
    Baffles.png

On the left is how it is Current, on the right is how it should be.
i remember now that the PO told me the the PO before him removed the baffle, i thought it was just the insulation, and the insulation i pulled out was probably almost brand new, and i should got back to the bin and grab it! guess ill need more rivets and a 2" circle piece of steel lol, anyone in Perth handy with a welder?

P.S, My Photoshop skills are not for sale, so don't bother unless you have 1000's!

If you find the right mechanic I'm sure you could find one that agrees loud pipes save lives and said mechanic would likely be lenient on db's I know my rwc guy in qld is. @Moo and @cal are both on the scene in Perth might be worth a pm to them to find a good mechanic

Im waiting to steal @Moo 's tyres lol, maybe he can have a quick look too :p will be interesting to see if that would fix my flat spot aroun 6-8k RPM as currently there is no back pressure in the exhaust. its not too bad atm with the steel wool in there, but that is pretty much just blocking the flow haha

Another quick update, i didn't take many photos because as usual, get carried away pulling things off lol!
anyway, pulled the carb's off to have a clean then couldn't be bothered taking the accelerator cable off. so thought i would just check the pilot screws instead, y'all ready for this?

    Cylinder #4 pilot screw 1 3/4 turns
    #3 2 1/2 turns
    #2 1 3/4 turns
    #1 2 turns

I had suspected it was running lean, but that is just... i mean what? like PO's kid had come and fiddled with the screws like the do with guitar strings? (i have 5 nephews and they all do this grrr!)

SO, i set them all to 2 1/2 as thats stock MC22 settings (correct me if i am wrong). thought to myself, carbs seem to be doing ok anyway, will wait to i get seal kit to rip them apart, so carbs back on and tested idle with leftover fuel in the bowls, idles a WHOLE LOT BETTER and she was cold! winning!
so everything back on the bike, took her for a spin, and wait. bogging down at 5krpm, WHAT THE CRAP i ruined it nooo! pulled over down the street and, oh wait. Petcock, OFF, switch to ON, coulple of revs and fuel again! haha what a retard.

So have a quick fang, and no more flat spot, but seems to die off alot after about 17krpm, i assume this is normal though, and bloody hell thing screams to 20k! WOW

    thats all for now,

    Cheers

    Hamz
