Good work hamz. Peak power is 16k no point revving over that especially if yours is the later restricted one. The power just drops straight off. Less chance of over revving and valve bouncing at 18k as well :)

Carbs may have been tuned individually .... which is the correct way to do it
Stock 'turns out' is a starting point.

After u have them apart and cleaned and new kit , and synced .... then its time to tune each one with the pilot/mixture screw

Maybe so @GreyImport, not saying i know more than you because i don't, by a long shot. But the whole rev range is a lot more stable now, no flat spot at 6-8k, and idle doesn't hunt anymore. and all that top end power comes back when i take my makeshift baffle out, which is actually quite restrictive....
In saying that, we will see how things are after i clean out the carbs, and still need to put in my new filters when they arrive, and i think the thermostat is stuck open so will need to do that at some point, (Probably when i clean the carbs) and they probably still need balancing.

Just a thought, maybe it was tuned with the old spark plugs, as a result different mixture levels. but you cant really adjust them on the bike while its running.....

Well next on the list is tyres, and then a nice long ride to get it out of my system (like that will ever happen!)

I rev mine to 17-18 during racing trying to keep between 12/13 to 17/18 as this is peak power once fully tuned if u lose power after 16 prob just needs a tinker as it should go little further after next weekend I will have footage of it so u can see

    Well done.
They are fun bikes to rev hey.
I think they have their peak power around 16k mark so makes sense it wasn't doing much after 17k

yeah, like i said before, taking the baffle out seemed to fix this problem, i was almost lifting the wheel in 2nd taking off! But really really cant wait till i get plates, and take her for a proper run, just itching for a good ride!

But not done yet, even once on the road, still want to either get new fairings (or paint and fix current ones), new bar ends, rim tape and black fairing bolt kit, and either HID's healights of just the high wattage 5000k-6000k white bulbs, still dont know if the little unit i have is a ballast or not? i think not...

    My little helper!
    20150502_155736 (Small).jpg

And here it is, it looks to be more of just a relay box, hooked up to OE wiring, its got a beefy power and neggy cable going straight to the battery, so some decent bulbs will be fine i think. shouldn't need HID's

But might need HID's on my FJ hmmmm ;)

I HAVE A NUMBER PLATE! shes now registered! yay. still heaps to do though, new tyres on, i think i put the front wheel on wrong, it sounds like a slow metal on metal grind when riding and wheel wobbles up and down? paranoia?

And, who wants to take me for a ride? :p

I would double check everything before you ride it, you want to have confidence if your front end

New pads arent in yet, went for a ride with some guys from perth street bikes, the grinding noise seemed to quieren down, i think it may have been the pads. Front wheel feels straight and figured the wobbling was just bumps in the road in the tunnel lol. Aww i dont know about a shot of my mug on the bike! You might be lucky!
I did use my impact wrench to put the bolt on the front axle back on, could it be too tight maybe? Was anothe thought....
    @Grasshopper
, yes everything came yesterday. Will be tonights mission to do filter pads. Oil filter maybe? And what ever else i see fit. Love love love this little rocket. I see the joys of riding and riding with others, and splitting traffic is SOO good, no more waiting for idiots to get off there phone and take off at the lights :p

I would say ... bad move ... getting it off yes ... but a torque wrench to tighten it up , not a jack hammer

agreed!! dont use an impact gun on a bike :) put the axel in, use the brakes to center it and then tighten. make sure all parts are greased and no play in the bearings.
