Info Honda CBR250RR

Woke up this morning to the postie delivering me a big box of goodies from Xcitebikes , it was raining so Phil and I headed to the garage.

First job was fork seals and I almost quit then and there, went to remove the top cap off one of the forks and it was stuck on something stupid , I ended up stripping the cap trying to remove it. I had a spare fork leg and we used that instead and managed to get the forks sorted. The head stem bearings were in good shape, but were removed, cleaned , regressed and reassembled. Forks were refitted as well as the front wheel. We are cleaning an insane amount of dirt off this bike, its crazy how much grot is coming off the bike

Phil painted all the brackets with some black paint so they look nice and clean, they were put back on along with the gauge cluster. New stock shiny levers were fitted to the brake MC and clutch perch, brake calipers were next and then we hit a snag. The front wheel didn't spin feely so the brakes were stripped down and we found the bar that the caliper slides on had rusted under the rubber boot. Quick look in the spares box found 2 replacement bars and brakes were reassembled and its much better now. A new battery was also fitted. Im waiting on a new lock set to arrive, then the front end is all but complete minus fairings. The radiator copped a quick paint touch up and was refitted to the bike, coolant was done and we decided to fire her up , she sounds really good.


Next tasks are to remove the exhaust and paint the headers, them do some work on the rear end, nothing is broken per se, just filthy so its strip, clean and reassemble. Im going to pull all my petcocks apart and make one good one, the Chinese ones are rubbish and I don't want to have to spend $189 on a new one

Didn't buy anything today, although I will need to order chain and sprockets off Andy's Bike Bits soon and get a clutch cable, H bar and rear seat cowl off XCite.

Today we cleaned up the rear plastics and fitted new indicators, also cleaned up the airbox, when we pulled it down we found some dead leaves at the bottom of the airbox , this is the 2nd time I have used a vacuum cleaner on a bike

I will be stripping the carbs soon for a cursory clean and balance.

 

the lock set has arrived and I fitted the key , I actually ordered the kit for the CBR400, but its looks sweet on this bike. I also ordered a set a screws for the tank lock, I have sent a message for Omar for some more parts

More parts have shown up, Honda OEM Clutch cable, Single Seat cowl and OEM H Bar from Xcitebikes and my chain and sprocket along with an air filter is on the way. Also my new air filter arrived, LiteTek kit is on order as well.

well , lots of packages including my LiteTek kit have arrived so today I set about getting into the carbs. They weren't bolted on properly and I noticed that the clamps that hold the carbs onto the carbs insulators was missing a screw. I opened the first carb and thought holy sheet, this is all new. I pulled the main jets, emulsion tubes and slow jets and all were clear and clean. I checked the needle and seat and it was in great condition. I then checked the air mix screws, they were only half a turn out. I pulled them out and found that there were 2 rubber washers in there and a metal one across carbs 1,2 and 3, I pulled carb 4 out and there was 1 rubber washer and no metal one. I have also noticed that on number 2, the cap for the vacuum is missing, I will make something up to seal it up.

I used my new LiteTek washers and set them to 2 1/8 turns out. I hooked up my Morgan Carbtune , refitted the carbs and pored some fuel in. She started easily with a smidgen of choke, I warmed her up, then set about adjusting the carbs, as you can see from the photos, number 4 was way out, I guess that is because I have now put the proper rubber (viton) seal and washer in there.

headers were painted during the week , looks heaps better , oil and filter done too
