So I bought a bike on Saturday. 2008 EX250J with only 19,000K's, it was only first registered in 2010. I'm the third or fourth owner. Paid $3500. Can't wait to get it registered and get my L's (that's next week)!!! It's got some aftermarket exhaust on it too.

I heard about this bike .....looks liks a great buy

Before u go riding make sure everything is ok ...meaning tyre pressure , oil levels, brakes , lubed chain ,etc.
And dont believe anything the previous owner has told u.

If your old man can get his Ls then anyone can....:D

It's sitting at the mechanic to get a blueslip or whatever they call it now (safety check?) and the green slip is on its way (thankfully valid for 3 months from date of issue), and I'll be doing the training on the 16th and 17th. Have my riding gear already... so I am waiting.

Also says I don't have permission to download those PDF's. Would be handy if I could get those at some stage.

    Thanks all.

    Hi again.

Blueslip/safety inspection was knocked back because of the exhaust. Mechanic said it's too loud & has no baffle(s).

Wondering if I should get a baffle(s) for the exhaust or find a stock/other exhaust that can be used on the road (ie not just track use only)

Anyone have advice for this? Apart from that, he didn't mention anything else.

Borrow a stock one off a mate. Then after the blue slip put yours back on.

I know a guy at work that has a ninja, but I don't know if he'd be keen to let me borrow the exhaust. I will probably have to buy one

Of course the plan was to put the other one back on afterwards :D

The absence of baffles isn't enough to fail your blue slip. He should have provided you with a dB test reading proving it is out of spec. Unfortunately a lot of these jerks are difficult because they can be (as the laws are pretty subjective) and it just becomes a royal pain in the arse.

I wouldn't bother buying one, stock exhausts are normally pretty expensive. It's an easy change out for a blue slip shoot your mate a 6 pack or something as a deal sweetener ;)

I don't know. He rides every day and it is pretty grumpy at work.

Will ask mechanic about the dB reading.

Explain to him the situation and tell him he can use yours for the day so he can experience the sound for him self.

Edit: do what kiffsta said lol
