    Hi Guys,

My names Peter i'm STILL a uni student and from Brisbane, i'm not the best with this forum business but ill give it a go. I have recently purchased a 1993 CBR250RRN that was poorly maintained and in hindsight probably should have not bought it. But it could have been worse and it will be a fun journey learning how to work with bikes. This is my first bike, i have come from cars such as a na6 mx5 which i later turbocharged, and a few honda civics and the usual motor swapping. I took a long break from all the cars and what not, and have always wanted a motorbike since that time i was 13 on a dirt bike on my grandfathers farm.

When i first purchased it from a P-plater down at the Gold coast, it lacked coolant (i know right). Forks were leaking, chain was surely never lubed or cleaned. Fairings looked like crap, tank was a completely different colour, the list goes on.
    I know, why did i buy it? I did what i always do, that is getting too excited and thinking i could repair everything. Long story short I have owned it for the last 4 months? or so i have lost track and have serviced or replaced the following;

New Brake pads front and rear
New ebay radiator and hose clamps (fingers crossed it doesn't bust, only $40 bucks i couldnt resist)
    New oem water pump seal
    New tridon thermostat
    New thermostat o-ring
New radiator fan switch (also from ebay for $5 haha)
New JT front and rear sprockets
    New RK chain
New oil filter bolt (previous owner rounded it, costed bloody $75!!)
    New chain adjuster bolts x2
    New Progrips 699 from MCAS
New Tarmac 30mm bar end from MCAS
    New Honda HP Coolant
New Honda oil filter and o ring
New Honda Full Synthetic 1040W Oil

And just bought some second hand tyres from a guy i found on gumtree named Mark, SAVA MC50's, thanks Mark! Currently had Dunlop arrowmax's the fronts were manufactured in 2006, nice and cracked, while the rears were in 2013, which i was informed 'newly' replaced- who knows but they need to go.

My plan is to get everything mechanically sound, then i will work on the aesthetics.

Definitely working on my driving technique as well, i found a great read, its a book called A Twist of the Wrist II. And once i feel confident ill start trying a few track days. One step at a time though :)

The next things to do on the list are:

Front fork seals and dust boots
    Front wheel bearings and seals
    Rear wheel bearings and seals
    Steering head bearings
    Painting or powdercoating my wheels
And finally fitting the new tyres

Oh and eventually valve clearances and a carb tune! Geez the list never ends :(

If this made any sense to you readers- great! if it doesn't im sorry im a bit spastic haha

These were the photos in the ad on gumtree, i will take some better photos later, probably wont because theres nothing flash to look at!

    :welcome:

    You have done well :thumb_ups:

If the front tyre is that old and cracked I would be replacing it sooner rather than later

Twist of the Wrist is also on video

Welcome to the forum, great to have another Honda on the starting grid :thumb_ups:
Bike looks reasonable to me, compared to my MC22 that is currently under going some major surgery.
Plenty of people on this forum who can assist you should you run into any difficulties, by the sound of it you seem to be progressing pretty well so far.
Know your pain with the oil filter bolt, mine was butchered beyond repair but @Brizfox forwarded one up to me on the Sunny Coast.
@kiffsta has had some experience with these bikes......he even has some parts, currently in my garage.
Again, welcome and we look forward to following your progress and yes.......we love photo's :lolsign:

Do you have a link for this video, maybe ill switch it up when i get bored of reading :)

Believe me it IS terrible, i have forgotten to mention a whole bunch of things wrong with it, like the dented tank, possible warped front rotors, possibly needing new stanchion tubes, no boot lock? The list goes on haha! It is hard for me to not look at it and see all its flaws and just want to fix them in an instant, i'm terrible with that :p

Thanks guy, it seems there is a nice community here which is great! I'll do my best with photos

Currently stock piling parts and waiting until my final exams are finished which will be in a months time and ill knock it all out over a weekend or something.

Currently contacted All Balls racing supplier 'Online Racing Spares' for front and rear wheel bearing kits, fork seal kits, and steering head bearing kit.

Ordered some ebay fork cap preload adjusters as well, in silver for $45 delivered, will replace the O-ring, as i have heard from Team Tiger that they are crap.

Will also work out if my rotors are warped or not during this process or if i have fitted my caliper incorrectly after the brake pad change, because i am hearing a intermittent grinding noise.

And lastly powdercoating/painting the Fork bottom thingo, triple tree, and wheels! Pending on colour scheme

The urge to procrastinate and work on the bike instead of study is very strong!

Oh and how do i edit my first post? I missed a few things.

I would like to have a track bike down the road but we will see, i saw a video of your bike idling and it just sounded so healthy! Did you just do a rebuild? Now all i can think of is how **** mine sounds and how much more money i need to spend :(
