So I have been house sitting a place out in mount tamborine, and found some of the bumps are ridiculous! Everything was sore by the time I got home. I don't know if the rear shock is buggered or not, but bumps just make me bounce and smash me into the tank. Mind you the fork seals need replacing, but the rear shock seems like it definitely needs inspecting. Possible poor dampening? I'm only 69kg and believe the rear shock is on setting 3.

What helps a lot is putting pressure on the footpegs and gripping the tank with your knees/thighs, and relaxing your arms & upper body. You might have to get your toes on the pegs to grip the tank properly, rather than your heels.

I usually place my pegs just in front of the balls of my feet, gripping the tank with my knees and barely grasping the handles. Riding position is something I always remind myself.

Ill keep trying though, I do get fatigue in my legs on the return ride home so maybe I'm not gripping the tank as hard.

The rear shock setting is basic and only sets the shock for static sag .... in other words it compensates for the riders weight when u sit on the bike to stop the bike sitting/sagging too low when your on it.

    http://2fiftycc.com/index.php?threads/motorcycle-suspension-sag-adjustment.1134/

Sure the shock can be shagged out but what pressures are u running in the tyres and how old are the tyres? ..... if your pressures are too high and/or your tyres are very old and hard then u will certainly feel every bump like a swift kick in the cods.

Pressures are stock, as in 210kpa front and rear, or whatever it says on that plate on the chain guard. Tyres are arrowmax's rears manufactured in 2013, fronts 2006.

Right, arrowmaxes... TBH they suck on my FZR. @Grasshopper's has new Pirelli sport demons which are much better... though any new rubber would be better.

Yeah they do I'm waiting for some spare time, where I'll do the whole lot, fork seals, bearings and paint and fitting the sava mc50s I got :). Rear tyre at the moment is still new I believe whereas the fronts have hardened and cracked

When u get your tyres fitted ask for new valve stems also ... only a couple of bucks or sometimes nothing.

Thanks mate, just came back from a ride 25psi front and bank cold, marginally better but still terrible. I'll see if it is resolved once I do the fork seals and tyres.

Honestly if this keeps up I've got myself a male contraceptive, but really

Mate, I run 30 on the front and 35 on the rear of my Suzuki GSF400 Bandit.
Think I would experiment a little with tire pressures, would go up some...lets say front=28 and rear 32 and see how it feels, worst case you drop the pressure a little......worth a try.

I had it at 30/30psi and tried 24/25 front/rear this afternoon, made it cushion the bumps slightly but not enough. I'll keep experimenting, thanks Phil

24/25 is way too low. Go with what it says on the tyre manufacturers website.

This is not really related to the bike, but this morning I got an awesome surprise from the missus, I entered the garage to see this sitting there! I was all over it like a kid at Christmas!

When I would work on the car or bike I would have tools lying across the entire garage, I would end up hunting for 15 minutes for that socket I put down just 2 seconds ago!! So now I can neatly keep all my tools all together which will definitely help me to focus on getting the work done rather than scratching my head as to where that tool went!

So I got to unpacking it all and assembling the rolling drawers and cabinet, it also comes with a lockable tool box with draws that sits on top.

So here how it looks, and sorry for the photos, they were off of the phone :)

    Feeling very spoilt! :D

On another note, Online Racing Spares are incredibly difficult to order parts from its probably been a week process just to ask about some All Balls parts, hopefully they pull through!

I am in the midst of exams at the moment, I'm in my 2nd year studying a Bachelor of Medical Ultrasound, and far out there is a tonne of information to learn! Wish me luck!
