Pinned So what have you done to your bike today?

Well, with all good intentions I removed the pipes and laid the bike on it's side......hate doing this way.
Equipped with my new oil filter from Andy thought I would fit it up, great thought. Reality is that the "PO" had completely rounded the bolt to the oil filter, not kidding.........totally roundThink my only option is to drill it out.
Tomorrow is another day!!!

Vice grips and a knock with hammer should loosen it

 

Yep, tried that to no avail. The bolt head are meant to 14.............this one started off as a 12 I think and is so rounded now I have no idea what size it is, sure isn't pretty !!
The vice grips are great provided you can get a serious bite, alas the collar doesn't allow me great access. Who ever put it on didn't want it to come off ????

 

Today was a very good day!!!! as compared to yesterday which I prefer not to think about
Having broken 2 screw drivers, used 3 disc on my drill.......and still no movement of this bolt securing the oil filter..
Today, I drilled the bolt out completely, and still no movement so in desperation I drilled a larger hole, felt the spring move inside the housing. So I used an easy out....gave it a good whack with a hammer and grabbed spanner and "BINGO" we have movement at the camp The oil filter was well past it's use by date and found it's way into the bin.
Also painted the front rim......looks good and got 2 coats of clear so I will be in a position to put the tire back on.

what is a fork seal driver/?unloaded the yds5.

 

My fork seal driver is a piece of PVC piping cut in half lengthways.
Made of plastic so it doesn't damage the seal, is basically free (used an off-cut) and works 'good enough.'

Fixed the air intake pipes, messed around with the dodgy wiring at the key.
Went for a shakedown ride, but had wiring issues.
So I did the logical thing and put it back in the shed and went for a ride on the Ducati!
With get into it again tomorrow.

Took the Zxr down to the track yesterday to see how it went.
Apart from the rain it was a good day.
Discovered the clutch cable is as suspected pretty knackered, and clutch itself could be better.
Have got a charging issue, chewed through a battery by lunch, but luckily had a second one to finish off the day.
Got a couple good sessions in when it wasn't raining and the track was only damp.
Great bike in the corners! Started in the novice class to get a feel for the bike and found myself passing 600's and bigger easily in the corners, but getting flogged on any straights. Got tired of being held up in the corners so I moved into the limited class and battled 2 strokes all afternoon. Had a blast, nice nimble bike. Bit sore today due to slight cramping from leg positioning on a smaller bike than I usually ride. All good though.
Can't wait for a dry day to really put it through it paces, after a few little tweaks.
