Thats a lot of tinkering over the years, you know your gone too far when cleaning out the shed is the next project.
Gave the VTR a quick tub... then fitted a Bluetooth system (Grom USB3) to my son's Subaru Outback so he has Hands free and bluetooth music. Afterwards I pulled the carbs from the ACROSS so I can give them the Threebond treatment and check float settings etc...
It was too hot and the beer too cold to pull the carbies apart. Maybe later Tomorrow lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Weather was much better today, 31°. Power has just blacked out in my neighborhood due to a crash going by the sounds of ambulances and police cars, it's not due back on till 9.30pm, might have to go for a ride i think.
Topped up Sylvie's oil as it was below the low mark. Investigated Jack's chain and slipping under load. Chain tension is fine, so clutch slippage was the likely culprit. After querying his current owner about the service history since I sold him I suspected dodgy oil had been added at some point, possibly one with additives designed for car engines. Swapped the one working battery from Jack to Sylvie and warmed up the oil. One oil change later with bog-standard 20W-50 (as per service manual specs) and full power is back at all normal road speeds with no shuddering! When pushed a tad further, there's still a little slipping so I'll be ordering and fitting a set of clutch discs by way of thanks for the loan of both Jack and also Sylvie's rego costs for the first three months - a friend like that is worth the effort! Finally, I swapped the battery back into Sylvie so I can ride her until the new battery arrives next week.
booked the vintage bike clubs examiner for 11.30 am for a rego check then off for historical plates for the r65 bmw.fully fuelled, tyres pumped , running sweet after the idle jets were cleaned yesterday.
