Went for a long ride most of today, caught up with a mate who bought a CBR for $400. It has issues, tyres are cactus, front discs are cactus, left fairing decided to free itself from slavery before we caught up, and its getting too hot. Told him what it needs to not be a deathtrap and what to check in the cooling system.

He's done oil, convinced him on the delo 400 and he didn't regret it. Did the coolant yesterday but still running hot above 80km/h. He is a big unit but it's approaching the red, not good. Have told him what to check, he already checked for bubbles with the engine cold. Next step is thermostat/waterpump/rad cap/rad fan and hoses.

Suffered a P plate blowout, 2nd one this week... before it was the plastic one which is now superglued in place. Guess the magnetic one got cut on the numer plate :prankster:

Feeling the burn now, not riding for 7 months, all the muscles and joints are slowly being beat back into compliance for bike riding

One of the best parts of finishing a project is wondering what the next one will be..... you never know what will turn up and that half the fun and enjoyment I find.

Yeah. I had a look online and am tossing up weather to get a 91 zzr 250 ($500) , a hyo gt650 ($350) or look out for a cruiser.

I finally did the fork seals in the vtr! Been riding for 2 months with leaking seals, had the oil and seals sitting here for about a month, on the "gunnado" list. I had someone look at buying it, actually a few enquiries, so I thought I better do it, and so I can get a roadworthy inspection. I decided to tidy up the look of the bike, too, so a can of silver spray paint (cold gal paint was lying around the place, so I used that), makes it look tidier. Of course, it's still dented and cracked plastics and paint is flaking on the motor and rear sprocket is worn so far it might start losing teeth soon... Did I mention the tyres are quite worn? Financial black holes. :-(

PeeWee80 and JR50 are done and sold, VTR has roady tomorrow, now to the next job. Hmm, zxr250 or GZ250? Or the DR350, YZ250, WR250F or the rebuild the ute motor. Maybe clean the shed, first.

pulled off the bandit tank, and added more parts to the replacement list:

seat housing plate, bolt has been cross threaded and mangled a welded on nut. second hand ad on the bay for $50.

battery doesn't hold a charge, used two chargers to double check. new lithium roughly $150 the bay again.

air breather from motor to air box is dead. part no# from the japanese parts list is non existent, found a superseded part number on csml site, roughly €9 plus postage. exactly the same part for the 400 model.

air filter taken out, k&n filter for gs500 and bandit400 are exactly the same. some ads say that a standard air filter fits 250 and 400 bandits. k&n didn't have the 250 bandit imported, so if i can get the dimensions of the k&n to compare.....

bought a set of exhaust header gaskets with allen head bolts, only to find i had already bought an oem set before...

bought a Japanese service manual for the 92, yes I wont be able to read it, yes if emailed, pm'ed (or prodded) can be scanned and uploaded for all.

    the debating parts:

got rgv front brakes and gsxr1100(750) forks

    got bandit v swing arm

    got gsxr 1100(750) rear shock

    want zxr2r swing arm

want suzi goose wheels (straight swap for gsf/gsxf apparently)

    still confused:

codes from japanese parts cattledog says frame should be a zp, stickers and import plate says np.

direction really needed to confirm what year or sub-model is the motor

I sold it! I sold my VTR250 just now. Next is to see if the CBR is still available... Because the 14 bikes I still have are not enough!

Fixed up a few things on the bike, fit the throttle grip properly, oil/filter change, clean, lube and adjust the chain, tyre pressures, and fit the ventura rack I ordered.
