    i thought some jet kits advised to drill the holes in the slides out slightly bigger when upping jet size

    The SLIDES yes, but not the DIAPHRAM.

    ooh s**t my bad dont drill the diaphragm.

    also heard of people putting washers on the main jet to make it richer, what does this even do.

    Puts the main jet lower into the fuel. The only advantage would be that the jet can get more fuel before the bowl empties.
    As I said before the needle and seat need to have FLOW to keep the bowl full. I have drilled out the hole in the seat about .5mm bigger to get enough flow to keep the carb bowl on my Maico full so it can be held at full throttle all day. This has nothing to do with float height, its about flow.
