No fairings missing, but does have wrong front guard. In better condition than mine when I bought it. See full story here.
A bit rough around the edge's, but is anyone looking for an adjustable height Coffee table ? $220 SA
fairings should go all the way to exhaust right ? and go back until the middle of the gas tank.
yes, the front guard for sure
Nice build by the way
Yes, my mistake should cover radiator. The fact I couldn't see and screw holes made me think it was complete.
1983 Yamaha XS250R Dohc, suit restoration, walk in rego, $550 SA
Bit of a sad state, but might be an interesting bike for someone. Unusual tail piece.
It is worth the $$ just for the wirriing Loomis Headlight
That's a XS250R. The DOHC-engined models have that tail piece. The clutch cover says "YICS" which is Yamaha's weird Yamaha Induction Control System that they used on a few twins in the early 80's. Also ran different main jets in the carbs.
I thought the YICS was just an extra chamber in the induction system to help with torque.
A detailed explanation

Yes...kind of. Used on a few Yamahas in the early eighties. That link Andy posted puts its existence as 1981-1986, which seems about right. Images in this article...
It was the YEIS I was thinking of, but both do similar jobs.
There was also the YDIS system around the same time on the XT'250 4V's, the TT Yamaha's and the SRX250's
