You could always ask one of the members here if they have time to go and check it out and snap off a bunch of pics for you.

FZR's will often come up for sale over time. E.g. There is a 2kr in frankston for $2900. Looks and sounds decent enough - seems to be one without the exup valve (whcih isn't necessarily a bad thing).

And another at city west yamaha ($2995)

So keep your eye out and you will see them! Just remember if the date is later than 1994 they are quoting compliance date and not manufacture date (e.g. that second link has a 2kr for sale saying it is 1998 - 2kr's were last manufactured in 1989). So don't be fooled.

Yea I was warned about the compliance dates when I got my L's.

I think after work today Im going to go for a walk down to Elizabeth street and see whats on offer there. You never know with thoes places. Some times they are very over priced and some times they seem ok.

Anyone know a good place on Elizabeth street to check out for FZR250s???

spot-on is probably your best bet - they tend to have decent deals. I have been told to be wary of Ray Quincey's (it's moved, but still nearby Elizabeth street). And of course city yamaha and / or scooter city each sometimes have fzr's available.

All the places are so close I guess just visit them all! It's fun to have a look anyway.

And as for having your mind set on a fzr250 - remember that you will probably want to upgrade to a bigger bike after 1 year, so be willing to compromise if it means you save some money!

Sorry - i just can't helping thinking ahead to sale time.
Reason for delay - i'm not off my restrictions until january, and i don't really know if i'll be able to afford a new bike straight away anyway.
Whereabouts in melbourne are you? I'm in st. kilda area, but travel around a fair bit and would be happy to drop in and show the bike to you one weekend, just to give you an idea of what to expect from an fzr. I'd be looking for at least $3500, mainly because i paid 4k for it and immediately spent $500 getting it properly tuned and serviced, and know what a top little bike it is. PM me if u like.

Im acctully looking into a XZ2R for $3200.
Sounds like its in good nick.

Is the ZX2R as powerful as the FZR 3LN and the CBR RR???
And how are the parts to get??? If anyone knows that would be good information to have
    Thanks

I'd be very very cautious about a ZXR250 (there's no such thing as a ZX2R!) for $3200, given that most of them go for ~$4400 and upwards. Is it very high km's? Has it been looked after? If it's crashed, how badly damaged is it?

Power wise their all the same really.... just comes down to the individual bike and how good a condition it's in. Their a little bit bigger than the FZR, and alot bigger than the CBR in terms of size.

Not sure why its so cheap.

The guy seems pretty sure its in A1 condition both times Ive called.
It was complianced in 2003. Has 13000Ks has been resprayed.

Downers it dosnt have reg or rwc but for that price Id be willing to spend a bit more on it seens though I havent seen one for less than 5000.

The guy also said it shouldnt take more than $200 to get road worthy.

He may be lying his ass off. Im not living in a fantasy world I know 3200 is very darn cheap for the bike it is and I am constantly on the look out for the catch. But if thats all Im defanitly gona go for it.

I have first look in tomorow morning at 930. If I like it ill leave a diposit and pick it up the next day.

So anyone who thinks this should not go ahead speak now or forever hold your peace.

Also is there any advice on things I should look out for so i dont get ripped off??????????

    Thanks guys (im sooo close <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D -->

    Read this...

It is a useful guide to buying any bike. Just disregard anything Yamaha specific

LOL well I guess you do have a point.
Without you selling your bike I never would have kept looking and found this one.

Wouldnt have a clue if it has upside down forks. How do i check for future refrence??

Mind you In a month or so I shall still be keeping my eye out for a FZR 250 for my boyfriend.

He should have all the money he needs in a month and Ive been telling him about the great world of FZRs. He loves the look of them and I dont think hes to fussed weather its a 3Ln or a 2kr. His user name is liam_86 (original I know). So if your looking at selling bike in a month or so pm him cause im sure he'd love to know.

Thanks for all the help. I rekan Ill still cheak this site out now and again as it still holds a lot of relevant info.

And Im still going to post a few pics of my new bike up.

    Catch Rach
