thanx lads .... I didnt even have anything I could think of to google What is antidive, and what's it for? "Suzuki's anti-dive system, developed from the feedback of racing technology, is now equipped on many of Suzuki's 1982 models. The new system is attached to the outer tube of the front fork. The brake line of the front brakes master cylinder leading to the caliper is connected by a hose to the antidive device. When the master cylinder's hydraulic line functions to brake the front wheel, it simultaneously operates the anti-dive device's plunger, which regulates and limits the flow of oil in the front fork. This reduces the compression of the front fork, which also reduces the extension of the rear shock absorber. Hence, the device serves to counteract the change in the motorcycle's attitude during braking." (from the Suzuki GSX 750/1000/1100 Supplementary Service Manual, Sept. 1981, p.6)
Heres the sticker on the fork ...duh .... I hadnt taken any notice of it thinking it was just some crap some PO had put on there ..... also known as a Posi Damp fork
Heres a tip for young players .... DONT attempt to remove the lead from the coil as it breaks off inside and u can kiss the coil goodbye as it lands in the closest bin
Finally found some reference to the anti dive unit buried at the back of the manual ..... mine is pretty much seized up
A sand blast and a lick of paint and they would have been good (don't know about any dampening though).
a few bits of grey,s cooking between the springs and they would have been pretty solid.pmsl. sorry grey.!
Don't think it matters that much. My drag bike has Yamaha engine driving a Suzuki tacho and it works fine. Sleepover in my shed. Don't know where your going to fit, too many bikes. How's your going?
