You've done well my friend, as some would say you've seen the light........a SUZUKI!!!!!!!! in the shed.
A full days driving battling semis , grey nomads, suvs , fires and bloody strong winds across the ranges.....good for blowing high vans off course! Tons of bikes out for the days ride ..... plenty of fat boys on their Fat Boys also A good day for picking up old relics .... Thanx risky ..... it was all done pretty quickly ... a few text messages and the deal was done and I decided to just go for it ..... luckily the seller was a fit young guy and a nice bloke .... he works amongst trucks and used to race bikes (dirt?) so he had the bike and bits loaded and strapped down before I blinked ! Phil : Do u have anywhere 'special' u buy Suzuki parts? .... go the SUZUKI! More to come when I "unpack" ..........
Looks like a big journey, pleased it went well mate. As for parts, I just google the bike and see what shows up. Was your bike sold here or is it an import. What year and model is it.
Heres the plate .... so im guessing its a "sold here" Rego papers says 85 and model as GSX83A .... wateva that means. I think it depends where and when it was released as when googling ,the closest to what I have (wheels, etc) is an 86 And the biggest pain when googling anything is half the results are for those pesky Across things
Gutsy statement, lucky your not in Bris Vegas, many Across here. Might be worth a visit to your local Suzuki dealer to ascertain status. Having not seen the add, is the bike complete or are you on a mission to locate parts.
Looks like its mostly there but Ive seen some damaged bits already that Ill have to hunt down. It originated from the Sydney northern beaches so alot of stuff is rusty and EVERYTHING has been sprayed black.... except the brand new manual! But as Im minimising it for the racer look alot of stuff is surplus anyway. The guy got it in pieces and was trying to put it together .... and the pistons are supposedly shot but the bottom is 'ok' but I havnt looked yet Heres some progress .... stuff on the ground was already off the bike ..... even came with a cover!
Todays progress Gettin naked ..... YAY .... 2 more carbys to play with ..... Tank showing original red paint .... and looking reasonable inside Salvaging and cleaning the hopefully usable parts .... starter is new Now the scary part ........... one of my main aims in getting this bike is to do an engine "rebuild" , something I havnt done before .
camshafts came in the box of "bits" the whole motor was only in the bike with loose bolts and the head etc just 'sitting' there .... we had to tape the rocker cover on so it wouldnt blow off during transportation Ive hardly had to use any tools to get where I am
ahhhhh okidoki, try get a manual with parts listings, will need at least new piston rings, new crank journal bearings, maybe new main cap bolts, gasket goo with gasket sheets, good luck finding pistons those conrods should be ok if the main bearings are not heavily worn, but if they are cracked powder, toss em'.... measure up the valves diameter and stem with calipers, same with springs, will be a equivalent available no doubt. new cam chain, from here the rocker arms look sweet.... if you get serious with it, find a mob who can crack test the block n' barrel... also hone the bore and mains.
Oh Grey, you do like a challenge! Can help you with a lot of stuff if you get stuck. Did you get the goggles with the Triumph?
