    You clearly got the ignition and spark gremlins sorted, was it going back to points ignition that was the solution?

    2 timing marks on the crank gear , I was using the wrong one. a mate sent me a pic of the manual and the timing mark I was using was in a different spot , problem solved

    KEWL, so you've got the electronic, transistorised ignition in and working, I was pondering why that system wold be giving you problems, so it wasn't coils or anything else associated with the system

    No sir, new coils are on their way, but I am loathed to play with it now it is running.

    I need one last part to finish the bike, it is the holder for the choke plunger that screws into the carb. Mine arrived missing 1 and it is not listed a part in the Suzuki parts fiche. I bought a set of 380 carbs off a 72 just for the one piece, alas, the 72 ones are smaller and don't fit.

    Is that supposed to be a threaded cable tension adjuster?

    It would be, it's like a threaded adjuster on a throttle cable for a 4 stroke. The adjustment in this case is still free play, but the cable is directly linked to the slide, no throttle butterfly on these carbs I'm assuming.

    OK, if it's a threaded adjuster, thinking on it, would you have a cable adjuster off of a single carb throttle cable that's suitable?

    The across one bolts in , but there is no room for an adjuster , I think I have worked out why I can’t find a part number on the parts fiche

    after seeing this nos listing on eBay ,‘I am guessing this comes with the carb

    I just called a gu I know works in vintage Suzuki race bikes , he thinks he has one off a tr500 , fingers crossed

    No single carbs off of single cylinder bikes you've wrecked, it's almost identical to the throttle cable adjuster on that carb in the pic

    The guy who has been supplying lots of my parts made me up a GT380 timing plate holder, works a treat

    Last night I was about post a link to the actual item, then when I did post it, I realised it was exactly the same link which @Damian_74 had posted that goes to the index page of all of those items - he likely spotted it last night
