    Update, sorry for slacking off. Had some busy weekends working and turning 30 and all that stuff.

    Progress report.


    Carbie is clean and all back together. Completed a dry balance on it. (Restored it to factory settings)

    After fighting with the air box + carby + manifolds for a wee bit of time they are all back in their right places. The air box now has new bolts holding it to the frame. ( missing previously from last owner )

    New fuel lines where attached. 5L of fresh fuel in the tank.

    Spark plugs checked and cleaned, all seem pretty good :)

    Egar to hear her start. We pulled the battery out of mine and hooked it up!

    Ready to go, hit the start button.

    Grumble grumble, stopped so we opened the choke.

    Tried again, everything sounding good and very close to roaring to life. About to try some start you bastard...


    Noticed fuel leaking from the fuel pump unit itself, not from around the line connection. Think a seal has gone in the unit. The fuel pump is not a genuine suzuki one, looked a little different to mine.

    New fuel pump is now on the list. Will be trying a few wreckers this week.

    So hart breaking to be so close and hear sounds of life coming from the little dormant bike a then having to stop.

    Again major progress was made and new positive feelings of being so close, have lifted vibes and eagerness to get the bike finished.

    I know i am fixing this little beast for my friend, however i can't wait to ride it now.

    Fairings will be getting new paint this coming weekend. finish line is in sight.

    So we got the beast running today. She sure does sound rough but she runs!!

    Currently at a high idle (no biggy right now) i can hear a slight ticking /off beat sound coming from left side of the bike. Not sure what i should be looking at to work out the noise

    My first thought was oil as well ..... has it been changed at all?

    Make sure its new oil , correct amount and stand the bike up straight and run it ... let it idle for a short time then rev it some .

    A question on oil. Should I be checking the glass oil level while the across is held up perfectly straight by my mate. Or while it's on its side stand is fine?

    To get a proper reading the bike must be up-right. Taking a reading from side stand down will generally indicate more oil in the side glass.
