I've ordered genuine Honda parts that say "made in China." Many Japanese bikes are being manufactured in China, as well as some European cars, so it is getting harder. But companies like Meatgear manufacture in Australia. And to add to kiffsta's comment, if you buy from a local supplier (even if it is sourced from China) you can a little more quality control and quicker supply as well as someone you can speak to if there is an issue (incorrect part or failure). Our bike shop doesn't buy off eBay because there is not the quality supply chain like known wholesalers. But, it is consumers' choice.

Brake parts for Spada . Took over 2weeks for Aus post to get it from Bombaderry to sutherland.. totally understand issues with international postage but with less cars on the road, more than enough displaced workers looking for work to deal with any increase in internet sales based increases in mail load it’s a little hard to understand.. really like the stickers n key rings wemoto give free with their orders. Decorated the tool chest beautifully.

John Bloor who resurrected triumph is a bit of a genius I think.. he realised that succeeding in the modern world where so many others fail dismally effectively ment not pandering to sentimentality or history in any way other than retaining the brand. Sourced parts from everywhere that was cost effective but put the bikes together in Britain to appease the traditionalists. And of course create only a few models at the start all built around the same modular chassis and motors. Bit like Royal Enfield are currently doing but starting from scratch with a product that was well priced and could appeal to many different categories of riders, establishing themselves, then developing a range of different and varied models with the capital from their initial success. Very few brand resurrections succeed in creating such a successful, well priced and varying range of interesting models as triumph has managed to produce.

The modern Triumph bears no connection to the original Triumphs
The only common factor is the name and the model 'names'
They couldnt get the rights to the original 'logo' so its different
They have done extremely well and built some fantastic , well engineered bikes ... which are obviously going to be much more reliable and technically advanced than anything from the 60s or 70s .... same with any brand , any bike
The ultimate proof of their success is their engines being used in Moto2

Not being biased cuz I own one , but the Daytona 675 is regarded as one of the finest bit of kit on the market when first released .... but it does have inherent faults ...... after 6 months of ownership u soon learn what they are ... heres a good example ....

    https://www.productsafety.gov.au/re...ltd-daytona-675-and-street-triple-motorcycles

The shock I posted above are KYB ..... mass produced suspension from a huge Japanese company thats used on a zillion vehicles
Like brake components, carbys and suspension on most bikes ... they are going to use specialist companies with hopefully a decent product
The later model Daytonas used an Ohlins TTX (Ohlins front forks also)

Same deal for Norton and while they are not producing in the same numbers as Triumph their new bikes are high quality and pretty much hand built works of art... as you would expect from the pricing...

Yep, may well have gone broke like so many others who try to re establish once great marques but fail to understand that relying solely on enthusiasts, traditionalists and fanatics to keep their brand alive is a receipt for disaster almost every time. John bloor knew he was going to have to create well priced, highly reliable, modern and interesting vehicles if he had a hope of surviving. And he achieved this in spades. Any one who imagines they are going to out horse power Italy or japan or build better handling bikes at a competitive price is kidding themselves.

Your right... in January Administrators were appointed.. but it seems they have been sold to Indian Motorcycle group TVS... lets hope they carry on the tradition of Norton to some extent.
Stuart Garner had the vision... just didnt have the cash reserves to make it all happen.. probably spent too much money on their racing adventures too.. not to mention buying Donnington Hall and the several Aston Martins around the place
I must admit taking the Norton Factory Tour 3 years ago was one of the highlights of our trip to the UK.

That's so funny isn't it. I was notified that the part had been shipped the same day I bought it! Got all excited for nothing. Australia Post should hire a few of us, give us a Postie Bike each and let us get to it!

I love these stories. A*seholes get the good life, while the investors take it in the wallet (I was going to say somewhere else that rhymes with farce).

Took 14 days to deliver some brake pads from Bombaderry to sutherland.. Distance of less than 100 kms as the crow flies. When I was at school in the 70s I used to work as a posty for the 2 weeks before Christmas during the”Christmas rush”. 5 mins training and “ off you go son” Not sure why they don’t hire a pile of casuals atm.
