I wouldn't say guru mate. I'm only repeating a lot of what I have read etc. There are guys on here like Scotchy and Neal that have forgotten more about 2 stroke tuning than I know. Dyno work cost me about 400 from memory but it was definitely worth it as I had just completely rebuilt the engine.

I'm keen for the NSR day too Briz. I'm off to work on the 2nd June and will be back on the 1st July for 4 weeks. Hopefully by then my PGMs will be back from Japan with new keys otherwise I'm stranded. Be good to get Kiffsta out on his RS and any other 2 bangers as well.

Thanks McLaren. I will try and get down to Brendale on saturday.

Looks great @Brizfox ! If you bring an MC21 we will have the full set (I don't know anyone with an MC16). Definately have to see if @kiffsta is available too, and any other strokers that are getting around on the forum :)

WP_001371.jpg I have a MC 16 but because the fairing was so bad I ended up putting a MC 18 one on it.

So the cause of the miss fire was this little guy... 20150530_135358.jpg

After its session with the workshop down the coast, it was determined that the power valve motor isnt working, so they were set to full open, and one of the air solenoids wasn't working which has since been fixed.

After all of this, i popped down to the motorcycle mad dyno day today to see what it did on the dyno, and the results weren't quite as good as I had hoped.

A bit of a far cry from 40/45HP isn't it? I would suggest a top end rebuild. New piston rings, gaskets, and a good clean up all around.

Thanks briz. That would be much appreciated.

I am going to check a few things before i jump into a top end rebuild. The fact that the compression is good on both cylinders gives me hope.

Be interesting to see exactly where those power valves are set Duggs. There is information on NSR world for setting them. I think they have the full open position measurements. Makes a big difference to the performance. The valves not cycling could be the power valve motor or the PGM. If the valves get carboned up it's very common to get PGM damage. Be worth pulling the valves out for a clean up in any event. I have a tool for extracting the valves on the 21/28 which is no easy task if they have carbon buildup. Not sure if it works with the 18.

As McLaren said it looks like it is running lean as well. Especially below 8k if the graph is correct. Way lean below 8k. Could be partly due to the power valves being fully open when they are meant to be partly shut lower in the rev range. I think you probably need bigger main jets as well. I'd be wary riding the bike like that.

Thanks fox. The power valves are my first port of call, but I am away this week for work so won't get anything done for a little while at least.

They guys in the shop reckon they went to #125 mains but I might invest in afew bigger sets for piece of mind. Is tyga the best place to get them?

When I am back I intend to pull the plugs out too and see what colour they are which will also help I think.

They got those AFRs from 2 probes stuck in the mufflers on the dyno. Are these particularly accurate on 2-strokes?

The little beast isn't going anywhere at the moment as it isn't registered so hopefully no damage done... Touch wood...
