Hi all, I'm in the market for an MC22 CBR250RR. The year model does not really matter. I'm after one in very much working condition with little work needed. Some small work is fine but leave the project bikes to the people that will truly appreciate them Budget is 3.5k maximum. Have had experience with these bikes in the past and 3.5k is generous enough as is for these bikes. Look forward to hearing from you guys and hopefully someone has what i'm looking for. Have a great day
Hey Mclaren, Have been trawling gumtree for months. Been to look at a fair few and most had too much work needed or had problems i didnt want to deal with again (i.e. Dodgey engine mounts). On top of the problems they were asking way too much for what the bike is and condition it was in. I thought some guys on the forums might be more serious owners and might look after their bikes better. Although if you think ive missed out on some gumtree finds i'm more than happy to be corrected
Yea we buy the dodgey ones and fix them up If you do see something u like then post it up here and we can at least give you our thoughts cheers mate
"Have been trawling gumtree for months." Im in syd and had no trouble buying one for 3.5k off gumtree, its a 1991 and the bike is nothing short of a dream come true. (I got mine about 2 months back or so) I can help you on this mission if you want.
Haha as long as you fix them well then theres nothing wrong with that And thanks. Ill probably post some links up tonight. Thanks for the help!
Cheers Damus. When you got yours was any work needed? what kind of condition was it in? Also the help would be very much appreciated mate! Although I don't know what I can offer you guys in return haha?
look honestly mate get this one http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/roze...onda-cbr250rr-1990-very-good-motor/1082893637 its 1990 and from a dealer. It will do great.
the engine was great on mine (i probably got lucky engine wise) it beat a cbr500r and mt07 which is a pretty good accomplishment if your into 0-100's off the lights lol. Umm yeah, I have had issues here and there, front forks where out, clutch needed to be done, I had a major electrical fault that took me out for about 2 weeks which SUCKED. But when she is running she is a BEAST and ridding it is comparable to sex lol. I have done other work on it though thats not related to problems, I highly recommend the tyga rear sets!!! #irridiumNKGIXsparkplugstrustmeIamnotcrazy!
With any 'old' bike there will be problems arise ... unless its been totally rebuilt from scratch With that bike at least u get a bit of warranty but dealers price will always be high ..... and u can bet once you sign on the dotted line they wont be your new best friend anymore. And I would check it out , ride it and offer them $2800 cash If its running ok it should start instantly with no throttle .... with choke when cold and without when hot. Check the date on the tyres as well as the tread. If its from a dealer it should have been serviced ...... ? They all can look pretty in pics with their skirts on.
I actually live 5 mins away from that dealership and went in on saturday to have a look. Had a look at the bike, had a chat to the dealer and to be honest wasn't too comfortable with his work. I'd rather take the gamble with a private seller who knows and looks after their bike then get one of that dealerships bikes. I used to work at a car dealership back in the day so I know all the tricks of the trade haha. I am quite picky I know but I don't want another full on project bike.
that 1990 at that price wont be around long, if it was me I would quickly buy it... Like greyimport said, all old bikes are prone to malfunction. If you want a reliable bike your better off buying new. Plus im pretty handy with these bikes after a few problems, if you run into issues I can help.
It would appear due to a technical fault a backup from Monday has been used to restore the site to it's former glory. I think we were talking about you getting a zxr!!! ^_^
