I know how you can get over 50hp. It will cost you the engine but you don't care about that right? Remove the airfilter and run your fuel at half a tank of 98octane then fill the rest with octane booster, with your almighty iridium sparkplugs and the extra air you will get over 50hp...... for one run anyways
**update** This morning I woke up and quickly went to repco an bought & (installed?) some full synthetic in hope of slightly boosting my dyno performance. I also adjusted my gear switch lever on my rear set to be lower to reduce the chance of accidental neutral between 1st & 2nd (worked a charm). checked tyre pressure, chain tension because of spare time. Also went and got a pink slip because rego was due and I now have 1 year of rego on the bike. OKAY!!! so the moment you have all been waiting for... I went to "Sydney Dyno" because c&m are too good to spend there time on me clearly and pretty much flat rejected me. *1 hour ride up to Gosford later* This is one of 6 results. On the one I saw I got 40.62 but this one states 43.something but there is clearly a slight glitch and the correct measurement is marked. The guy didn't email me all 6 results, just this one. As you can see an EMBARRASSING 40.2HP but my fuel air is seriously rich. The guy said if I balance my carbs, remove the needle shim and lower the jet size to 112, 110, 110, 112 I might be lucky to pull around the 44HP mark. I did my best, sorry for the mega let down. Tell you the truth I didn't even want to face the world after such a poor result, the bike did feel really fast to me.
Anyway so obviously my plan from here is to remove the shims, run 112, 110, 110, 112 jets, put the under tray back in and balance the carbs. I will do one more dyno after that for piece of mind and that will be that. I cant justify a full rebuild out of vanity. Next on the agenda BRAKES!!! woooo. *cries and whimpers in the corner of embarrassing 40hp*.
Thread is awse. Cancelled buying all the parts to make my carbs good as new, and the advice of these guys, what would they know anyway!? Im getting Damus to build me a 50hp engine.
Air fuel ratio is as obvious as the erratic ignition problems. But all this seems highly involved to do a track day. *which can be done on anything from a CB125 to a Goldwing and wont make one iota of difference in performance as the nut behind the bars is the only important factor.
6 runs, that pretty good, when you do your next run, is it possible to get him to balance your carbs ?
Put the carbs back to stock parts and settings, and use the original airbox and filter. Guarantee it will smooth out your AFR.
