Any more major bike builds wont happen till my workshop is built ... doing the ZXR reminded me of how crap it is here now working 'outside' etc

Things like the carbs and wheels will probably end up on the flyer and its now out of rego anyway ... its had its day
The engine needs a total rebuild and third gear is stuffed also but for the time being running down the track will do while its still in 1 piece

Need to find a way to spray engine start into it without having to take all the bits off. If I remember right, it was hard to start, but ran fine once hot. Started fine when cold with a bump start (from memory)...right?

Thats about it ...... I started it today with Aerostart but it took alot ..... didnt try to bump it as I wasnt going to try pushing it up the hill..... bumping worked easily that first time at Gunnedah when cold and then started via the starter all weekend.
When racing is looming again Ill try that here in the street (when theres 2 of us) to see if its a common occurence

Plan is to change a few things then just drag it till the gearbox and/or engine self destructs

When do you plan to make a tank skin to go over that? Maybe some kind of hinged unit for easy open and close to get to carbs?

Should save about 4-5KG ditching the metal tank.

Pulled some more extraneous bits today

Chinese fuel pump had died ..... might not have helped trying to run the bike the other day ... put the original back in

Ditched the coils as I have these sticks on the way

    coils.png COPS.png

Ok electrical honkys .... would Jaycar have these maybe? .... or just the bare terminals to rewire them?

    coil plugs.png

I had a good look at the diaphragm vents also .... I dont know about there being 'filter' material in there but they sure were clogged up with junk ... might not help in the act of carburetion either

    after the air gun

Also time for some gearing experiments for the ⅛ mile

Its had stock gearing for years so a 17 front but lets lose some teeth and get the most out of that 18500rpm :D

    13 or 15 ? hmmm

Go with 15 to start with... 13 might cause you to see the sky at take-off... and Wheelies are slow.

What is your average speed over the finish line atm ?
    And in what gear ?

I would gear it down so you are crossing the finish line around 14,000 rpm's ( a touch below peak horsepower)

Just looking at the Gearing Commander site and @ 118kmph you would be going over the line at about 15000 rpm's in 3rd gear
With a 15T front sprocket you would be crossing the finish line @ 14550 rpm's in 4th
    And with a 13T you'd be crossing the line @ 14600 in 5th gear

I would have to find my time sheets but heres a speed from one of Franks posts

    10.20 @ 110

I think 3rd gear ...... I was hitting the limiter really easily so gear changing needs some experimenting and more test runs

Hitting the line in 4th with some clutchless shifting would be interesting

I went from 17 down to 15 for the CBR. This gets me across the line in 4th gear around 16,000 rpm.
