The plastic primer is an acrylic based primer with a flex additive in it, the thinner's has soaked back through the paint layer's and bitten up/fried the colour coat.
    [/QUOTE]
He told me he used a can of Septone primer surfacer, not plastic primer. Primer surfacer is another name for etch primer isnt it?

    Ok, i missed that part.

Nah it's different again, Primer/Surfacer has more solid's in it so you can build up the primer level quicker
It is ok for using over small patch's of metal where you've done a repair, but it's still recommended that you use etch primer under it
    http://www.septone.com.au/product/l/primer-surfacer-4l

It might have gone on alright it it was put on in thinner coat's and let to dry for a long time inbetween.
Wet coat's will soak back through layer's
Only way around it is to use 2K or decent epoxy primer's etc

Adhesion primer was used first... but not all factory or "old" paint was removed... I waited the required time as per the can... and they do say you can cover with primer surfacer if needed...
Anyway... whatever it was on there it went rock hard... a real PIA to sand off... 90% is gone but I have run out of 240 W&D and the 400 just isn't up to it... so I will leave it now till I get back from my Mid West NSW work trip this week.
Interesting thing is that I had given the underside 2 coats of adhesion primer as well.. but no primer.. just to see what would happen I have shot 1 good coat of basecoat and it is fine... no wrinkling, shrinking etc... OH well...live and learn. :)

I am a painter dyslexic. As soon as I hear all those swear words, like primer, pre-something, my brain shuts down and says "find someone good and give them money".

I agree theres too many brands/names etc, paints come in "systems" these days & its best to use the one line all the way through the process. When I resprayed my bike the lairy green it now is, I contacted a supplier who were great,I walked out with some flexible bog, primer filler, colour & clearcoat, as well as a full list of info at hand & a number to call if something goes wrong

My big acheivement for the weekend ..... Valentino was selling his spare boots so I dragged myself out of my air conditioned dwelling and into the 50deg day outside to pick them up .... and with the Land Cruiser A/C in pieces on the work bench to add to the suffering .... but for $80 it had to be done .... as new condition and made in Australia

Thats life in the fast lane

I had 20 bikes at one point, all not-going projects. That's when you realise that you're not winning (especially when the credit card statements arrive), and you have a serious condition.

Looking to register a bike today, $221 for single or $311 2 seats, for 6 months. Then I need third party property insurance, which should only be about $40/yr if I remember correctly. Bikes are not cheap...

I registered the bike, I even rode the bike. But it needs a bit of maintenance. Back on a bike after a few months.

I'm 99% sure they are only legal when parked, if the engine is running and you're moving you can get a defect for them.
White light's to the front and red to the rear, amber indicator's are all ok.
Underbody lighting is not acceptable in the ADR's- http://www.tmr.qld.gov.au/-/media/S.../Vehicle-standards-instructions/G19.pdf?la=en

That being said i have seen a few bike's getting around with led lighting accent's in their fairing's, pretty sure it's illegal though

As far as I know, White for the front, yellow/amber for the sides, and red for the rear are the only allowable colours. For anything else you risk a defect.

Seems the police are the only ones allowed a flashy modded vehicle these days, they were checking bike exhaust decibels in the tweed last week and kept getting interrupted by landing jumbo jets interfering with their meters, the gold coast at night is lit up like Las Vegas and green, red & blue xmas lights are flashing everywhere on roadsides but no that 2 lumen neon could be dangerous, hypocrits, the end is nigh

I should do that. Waiting for a payday to afford it. I can't make my pay last 4 days, let alone 14...
