Not a fan of the cross plane cranks. Terrible sound. Rather the 06-08. But still fun bikes to ride. Lol
Big arvo in the garage with the girlfriend today. Got my girlfriend to drop the old oil, drop out the old filter, new filter in and she filled the oil. Also she gave me a hand putting loctite on my loose peg and rearset. Then she put the plastics and H frame back on after helping me tighten the head stem bolt. The. We used wax cleaning spray to give Hildegard a "dry" bath.
My 7r will be new again in 9690km lol. For those of you that don't understand it currently has 90310km and the odometer only goes to 99999
took the handlebar mounts off the new toy and need some rubbers. not available at repco so will have to have made out of urethane.
Went for a ride from canberra to Wollongong yesterday. Turns out the brand dririder doesn't keep you dry. I discovered that my rear tyre is actually to big and a slight adjustment caused it to rub against the swing arm.
Rode to work at 6am in the rain and got a bit damp. Trip back home less so. Slippery roads, especially that white crap that the sydney council loves to put everywhere
Getting so restless waiting for my bike frame and wheels to come back from the powder coaters -.- on plus side got completely new head light ready to go on and getting new carby to engine couplings. This bike has no excuse not to run properly after I put everything back together. If not might be a firey death -.-
Got a new rear tyre fitted on Nix on my lunch break. Old tyre: New tyre: Old one was a Pirelli, new one is now a Dunlop to match the front.
Yeah completely different profile, as were the other available tyres in the right size. I trust these guys to recommend suitable tyres though, so I'll be taking their advice and going easy for the first couple of hundred km until it's worn in and I'm used to the change. Mind you, having just replaced the bent clip-ons with straight ones while not riding much over the break, she's a lot more nimble than she was anyway! Just my luck that it's rained this afternoon though! Will need to be extra careful on the way home from work... As well as having what seems like a massive flat spot in the middle, the old tyre was fairly cracked near the rim so was probably overdue for replacement as the bike had been sitting for years before I got it on the road again. They also pointed out my front disc probably needs replacing soon. I knew the pads were probably about due and I'm not too happy with the condition of the rear disc either to be honest, so was already looking into whether I should replace them before selling her. If the FZR400 passes RWC once I'm on my opens in a couple of weeks, I won't be too worried about it as any more money spent on Nix won't add much to her resale value.
We've had a lot of rain here lately so that's probably for the best! The bike was located in Sydney when I bought it, so perhaps the previous tyre was chosen for local conditions at the time? We also get a lot of frost here in winter, might be a reason for the different profile of most of the tyres on offer?
Managed to finally get the non-running project NSR mc18 I pick up years out into a clear workable space. Took off the tank and rear tail section. Took the chance and tried spinning the engine over with the kick starter.... success!!!!! It's not seized from sitting all those years.
Picked up my brand new carbie joints today, hopefully that'll resolve my top end issues. Just waiting on the frame and wheels to come back from powder coaters and to find someone that can get me in the 17tooth sprocket for the front :/
