You poor bugger, carry some start ya bustard? Or readjust pilot screws to account for colder weather/ denser air.

I may have to look at this.

They are all good. Currently not running the pump. I haven't time to pull everything off and put it on. Which reminds me I need to order the pre bent line from Yammy before I can.

Nup can't do that you even look at the choke or throttle let alone touch them and it floods.

    Not a bad idea

In the end the towie came and said he may not have enough to tie it down. So he gave me one hell of a push, first clutch didn't work second let out it did. By that time it was 1-2deg.

The problem is I can't push, even with a slight down hill gradient at work, fast enough to get it to fire. And as for running alongside and pushing......forget it I'll drop it.

However the other morning when it was our coldest morning a customer pushed me twice with no result.

It's starts when it wants to start.

When it's in my garage or daytime. Will fire first time er'y time.

    F#%^ing temperamental yamaha.

What plugs do you run? You could also go one stage hotter for winter.

I hate answers like this when I go to answer someone's question on forums. And quietly resent behind my computer screen. But I'm going to say it myself now........ Sigh......

The standard NGK ones for this bike. No further info.

I'm now going to uppercut myself..

Well if you do decide to change them for example my bike has cr9e ngk plugs, if I wanted to go one stage hotter I would run cr8e sparkplugs.

Because it is bloody cold in Ipswich in winter.

Ok I can't remember the code, but I'll keep that in mind. I also was reading while I was waiting that replacing the plug caps would be a good idea as they can retard the spark quite a bit.

Thanks guys. I also read to do that when doing so.

What I did forget to mention is that you can smell fuel when cranking when it's flooded. But it has a funny smell to it. Almost like paint thinners. However when I had checked tank earlier (to see exactly I how much I had) it smelled as it should. And I use it all the time with no issues (as I work at the servo I buy it from).

Why the paint thinner smell when cold? Or could it be zorst fumes when cranking?

zorst fumes from when cranking will smell nasty like paint thinners - past that are you running a fuel filter without the pump in place.

I tried a filter, and I also don't have a fuel pump installed, it didn't last long however before I had to toss it, tried both the zero psi free flowing ones, as well as the concertina paper cored oned - both failed with inadequate flow even with a full tank.

    Alright update.

Well I have put about 4000 Ks on it now. Had a couple of long runs on it too. And a few issues have cropped up.

I'm losing oil somewhere. Maybe out the zorst. Very black. But never any smoke. Less oil results in noisy tappets. Which I think it has anyway.

I have a bad connection for my indicators. They work when they want to. Usually after going around a left hand bend. Need to find the indicator wire and see if it a bad clip or something. I know it's not the switch.

And I now have a coolant leak from the back of te engine. From where one of the coolant pipes enter the block. Not sure if it's a seal or the bolt or the pipe. I only Noticed the other day when I saw a rust mark running past the oil sight glass and traced it back up to the coolant pipe.

I checked the coolant and saw it was empty in the bottle and why it was getting hot the other day. (Felt it as the gauge doesn't work) sometimes it weeps and sometimes it doesn't after riding it. A bit of further investigation is needed here.

Ah, the joys of owning a 25 year old bike......

That is the plan. It has just been a case of finances over the past few months.

I am compiling a list of the stuff that needs to be done, including the finicky issues and taking it from there. Unfortunately it will have to wait till next fortnights pay. I have to re-register it this one. But luckily a bumper payday coming next.

So here I the list off attention needed for Cherry (dats de bikes name)

    -Oil and filter,
    -Fix indicator problems,
    -New front brake light switch.
-Find, diagnose, and fix coolant leak.
    -Get temperature sender working.
-Order fuel line (the pre bent one from Yammy) and put pump back on.
    -New grips and bar ends.
    -Service/repair forks RHS leaking.
    -New fork separator.

In some ways, not big things, but needed nonetheless.

Than at some point. Get the damn tank painted to match the rest of he bike, and fix the carbs......
