Right, after a bit I've finally got around to it. I am running a 17 toothed front sprocket to a 55 toothed rear connected by a 130 link endless O ring chain. Cruising at 100Kph the tacho is showing 9500rpm. I think I've said it before but the bike has no trouble going red line in top maxxing 160 Kph. Oh, and the speedo reads perfect. Our local dibble have this trailer that displays your speed in big neon numbers as you go towards it but doesn't send you a ticket. Well the fool's left it near my house this weekend for me to have some fun with. Like I said, It reads fine!!!!
After replacing my chain with a new O-ring and clearing the blockage in my fuel cap (lets air in) I can do 170, and I believe I can do more. We'll see how we go today ;-)
Yup 180kmph! I think it has some more too... Just a bit!
Thanks for the info.
mine . . . only 110 top speed. what's wrong with my bike??
Have you tried turning it on? ***edit*** on a serious note, is yours in miles per hour, or km per hour?
good point casso i worked out mine went heaps better when i turned it on... But any way 110mph would be about right for a top speed if thats what adjudrey meant.
how many teeth you front and rear has??? i'm waiting for your post since . . . . caaso, mine is in KPH. it is only 110KPH (maxspeed). what's the prob w/ my bike ?? anyway, not yet checked my gear ratios.
Mine's running 15/55 on a 428 chain AFAIK. Will be replacing them shortly... but can't decide what ratio to go to.
I've had mine up to 165km/ before my body starts being used as a sail and wind resistance and things factor in a lot more. It can definitely push up to the whole 180 but I haven't found a stretch long and straight enough to do it. This weekend is double demerits so I definitely won't be trying it then. Gonna spend the week taking my bike apart totally and sandblasting dirty parts and degreasing the engine etc.. my bike is filthy. I'll replace the chain and sprockets aswell as give the tank cap a clean like raaqi suggested. I'll fill you in on any performance improvements.
pretty sure i took it to 170 the first day i had it 185cm tall.. 85kg on my 1992 3LN3 w/ exup does 100km/h @ 8250rpm top speed 205 maybe? i took it to 190. the last click on my speedo and it was still picking up.. but i ran out of non pottholed road p.s. my exhaust is not so standard and an estimated 120db
120dB is a bit steep there.. Don't forget the difference between 110dB and 120dB is 10x bigger than the difference between 100dB and 110dB. Man I'm a nerd. I'm waiting for koma to post his new top speed, now he's all juiced up with 1000cc's
Lets just say that i had it somewhere between 260 and 270 before i started to back off as the road surface was getting a little inconsistant. The bit that i found the most amusing was that the tiny mirrors i've put on the bike, one of them folded at about 220km/h and the other one was perfect! Didn't budge at all! When it got above 250km/h i couldn't really notice any increase in speed from the road blur, just noticed the speedo was still winding up. Kinda glad at those speeds that i've got two massive front rotors to haul the beast back down to sane speeds. I was out riding with my mate on his 2002 (i think) ZX9R, and in straight line speed i handed him a can of whoop ass... through the corners though he certainly had the advantage. Most likely due to the new Pilot Power's he put on there, and he's had an extra month or so to adapt to the big bore power. Really must get a Melbourne ride organised for the uni holidays (even though i'm working 5 days a week. )
Wow, way to whoop our asses! If the cops saw you they'd have to put a dispatch out on a 'white and red blur, possibly a motorbike' haha. Anyways. Quit your job. It's what I did, and I'll admit I have a lot more time to procrastinate. It's great.
Woh koma thats a bit irresponsible now, isn't it? Out of interest, where does one find suitable roads round here for those sorts of shenanigans (no i'm not a cop)?? PM me if you like. I struggle to find the right "back roads" (not to mention hp) for silly speeds like that
what if the local airstrip is grass??
Theres some GREAT flat, straight roads in central Victoria. The Newstead to Maryborough road has a total of about 5 turns. It's about 40km and I've never seen a cop on that road my entire life. There's a lot more around that area, but not unless you know the area.
