Urgh, hate getting on a bike without any gear on nowadays. The thought of doing 150+ km/h without any body armour would be ringing some serious alarm bells in my mind.

Took my DT230 (2 stroke) out to the dirt for the first time on Wednesday. My god that bike's a lot of fun. It pulls bloody hard up to about 110km/h, but slows down fairly considerably after that to top out at around 140km/h… Mind you, that WAS going up a long steady hill at the time. Will have to see how fast it can go coming back the other way.

Took a fizzer 600 for a test ride a month or two ago, and wound that up to 230km/h easily, but had to drop it back when I ran out of road. It seemed to cruise fairly comfortably at about 160km/h, but the suspension got a bit skittish above that. Atm that's the fastest I've been on any vehicle - doesn't come close to Koma's 270 (or is it more now?) but plenty deadly enough for me atm. Need to take a newish 600 out to the track and do some runs there.

... Maybe the Triumph Daytona 675? Reckon that'd be a bit of fun

Thats a triple midrange sports, correct? I wonder how that'd go. Probably a nice amount of torque, so I'll bet it has a fair bit of oomph behind it in the lower ranges, compared to say an r6.
Most likely lower revving though, but thats not an issue with me.

Would love to get one.

so would i, so would i...
Looks really "narrow" from front on (like a twin) compared to the common 4 cylinders - reckon it would be a lovely bike to swing into corners, especially on the track.

My plan is to wait a couple of years till the first round of second handers pop up in the classifieds and then try and snatch one cheap(ish). Probably still looking close to 10K though.

Thats a straight 3 cylinder init? That would explain the slim-ness

yep and yep.
they seem to have made an extra effort to keep it fit looking though. No love handles on that bike.

190.. the top notch on the speedo and it seemed to me like it was still gaining.. so i guess it would go off the clock easy.. but thats a 3ln3 with unrestricted exhaust... a mate on a 3ln on with a restricted exhaust topped out at 180

Yeah, slim, fast and TINY! I hate the fact the only bikes i fit on these days are the litre plus bikes! I want something of a decent size, but light and powerful. Even the R1 is starting to get too small for me to tolerate. Oddly enough, the '05/'06 GSXR1000 is about the last of the decent sized Jap sports bikes.

CBR1100XX? Busa? ZX9/11/12/14? Have you ridden the new FJ or some of the Beemer line?

Blackbird and Busa are way too heavy for my liking.
ZX9R doesn't agree with me in terms of geometry; the bar is to close to the seat.
ZX10R would be nice but too expensive so off the cards.
ZX12R is a bloody nice bike but again too heavy for my riding style.
ZX14R is just bonkers... and too new.... and too bonkers, and too heavy, and too expensive. No, just no.

I haven't had a look at the FJ or the newer Beemers, but one of the newer sports oriented BMW's did catch my eye the other day. I'm trying to convince myself i can't own a BMW and be a hooligan... it just doesn't work.

my dt230 maxes out at 145

apparently.

never had it above 140.

but I reckon that's because I weigh almost as much as the bike does :p

Weight has very little affect on top speed, it just takes longer to get there. Aerodynamics are the problem. More power is the solution to anything though!

I've had mine up to 180 but I reckon there's a little more in it.

Aye, I never said the top speed was because of my weight, I said I'd only got it to 140 because of my weight. I'm sure it had further to go, i just ran out of road :p

Hey guys. Just joined up on this site and I'm already addicted. Ive had mine up to 170kph with quite a heavy tail wind. Might be due to my 98kg ass. She just doesnt seem to want to go any faster than that.
