I found my old R6 for sale last week. Someone has done an engine swap on it, and it's had a major service recently. The price was right, and I checked it for blowby and found none, so I bought it back.

Old mate said that someone nicked the Delkevic exhaust I put on there, so it has a danmoto on it. Not really fond of the look, but it sounds alright. The ventura rack is still there, thankfully.

Anyway, it's done about 2000km since I had it, obviously been sitting outside a lot so it's a little worse for wear, cosmetically. Nothing a good detail at my work won't be able to sort out.

This time around, I want to do more of this

    And less of this!

To be fair it was popular at the time, even Rossi was doing it :)

NO he hasn't got enough time to do the Hammertone Flyer and fix your bike. Must prioritize, the flyer first Grey.

Got the bike to work and gave it a wash

Stuck it on a bench to fit a bushing into the clutch lever pivot, and ended up doing some detailing.

Polished the nose a bit, then did the headlights but they need another go as well.

Ahahahaha, OK, perhaps I rode it into work that day :) It'll be living there til I get my open license... it needs too much work to be a daily ride at the moment anyway.

Now I would appreciate my proper avatar back :D

Dragged the bike out from storage and pulled the tank and skirts off to have a poke around and fix any issues. And I found a few things...

First thing is the tank, I think its destined for the rubbish tip

    BdwX7D7.jpg

    JKnG3CZ.jpg

    0ztiOvA.jpg

Fuel tap is leaking in off position, needs new seals. Leaking from one end of the filter, hose was brittle, chopped a section off and refitted with a new clamp.

    ahSeWfP.jpg

Bodgey fuel pump from a car? Nope, OEM Mitsubishi fuel pump.

    8RVmHVB.jpg

They did a decent bodge on the crank breather, though the vapor separation champer is missing

    KxT40C3.jpg

Battery terminal was stuffed and the main earth was a bit rusty. Replaced the battery with a new one and cleaned the earth

    i7WhIT5.jpg

    a1z9NDL.jpg

Crappy flasher can that dims the dash every time it turns the indicators on, another item destined for the rubbish tip.

    Nm1cAXw.jpg

Reg/Rec plug has been a little toasty, cleaned and applied some dieletric grease. Charging system seems happy.

    FKAsLPO.jpg

Airbox not properly sealed, it's the K&N filter inside doing it, the edges have had a hard life from several apprentices cranking down the screws when the filter isn't seated properly. Time for a new one.

    VXAQGXa.jpg

Pulled the dust seals off the fork bottoms to clean the oil seals with a fork doctor. Found a piece of rag stuffed under the right hand one. Cleaned up with the seal doctor and hopefully they won't leak

    Ud6W83J.jpg

    WLjNmHv.jpg

Finding an oil leak around the timing cover.

    9q771Si.jpg

    Hmm...

    mJIaZOw.jpg

Are those o-rings I spy? Oh dear.

    gNdxBk5.jpg

    OQTVSTI.jpg

Fixed. Took all of two minutes and a little effort.

    DWOTFtL.jpg

    xIbRTu8.jpg

Looking towards the back end of the bike, the brake reservoir is totally stuffed. It could fall apart at any moment.

    rJOlxzt.jpg

I pulled the back wheel out to check the wheel bearings, which are stuffed. Work had a better rear in the pile of dead tyres, so I swapped out the 7 year old pilot road 3 for a newer Rosso 2. Cleaned, lubed and adjusted the chain, but it was for nought as the chain is loose on the sprocket, even with the correct slack set.

    FCpZncm.jpg

Packed up and rode the chook chaser home

She runs pretty nicely. I'm digging the danmoto pipe.

Sounds like your power steering or Air con belt needs replacing @Linkin :)
I hope you took all those items into consideration when you bought it back... :)
