One week until holidays! I'm excited, haven't had a holiday in years. Now I just need a bike...

If we are planning to be at Warwick by 10 for parade lap thingy, shouldn't we leave earlier?

Oh. No late check-out Sunday, then.

I've been having some issues with my bike, so I did a little looking..

I think I'll go the ninja from the second mob.. Or fix these leaky floats. Needle isn't seating well, takes a little more push to close than it should. Grrr.

Mine is running better, after dozens of carbie removal and disassembly, just not quite right. It was perfect for the first 10kms...

    What's it doing mate?

First thing I always ask myself after I've had the carbs of and it wont start is 'did I tighten up the clamps" - on several occasions the answer has been no!

That was part of the problem the first time, but float level and needles, possibly dirty jets, and unsynchronised carbs added to it. The plugs say 1 and 4 are right but 2 was too rich, and 3 a bit rich. Adjusted float level on 2 (too high) and synchronised the carbs (with a 2-tube plastic pipe homemade apparatus), so we'll see how that goes.

But on a more general note, don't forget your umbrellas..

Mate those airbox seals are never going to work like that... looks like they're all cut and missing a piece on the same corner... you need new ones, or temporarily fill the gaps with silicone

Simpler yet, I left them out. They aren't critical, not downstream of the carbies, I did use grease to seal it, but not this time. It may draw a little warm air, if they aren't very flat they might suck in a little of the finest dust, but not an issue for a road bike, really. And this has more issues, like being old and tired.

It will never run right without being sealed to the airbox mate

It's running quite well right now. Well, apart from running out of fuel.

Even that has been delayed. I was meant to leave tonight, but now I'm waiting for Dad. We are arranging things to bring a bundle of timber back for my brother... I've spent a week trying to sort them out (3 disorganised people making a plan), so tomorrow we have to load a trailer, clean out a ute, load the bikes (MTB bike, too), and get on the road. Hopefully.
