I can't help my self, I want to do a re-jet. I can tell I am running just a tad too lean, so for piece of mind I want to go up to 110 for all the main jets (assuming that they are still stock 105's?). I presume this isn't the hardest or most expensive task in the world? Kiffsta I recall you linked me to a place that will sell 110's for a fair price? What was that store again? Any advice on this task would be most appreciated.
Oh really! That's interesting. I might just run it richer with the needles and balance it then do you think?
Yep, these come out the box very well tuned, I balanced mine last weekend and I am amazed at the results
You adjusted from stock setting of 1 & 3/4 winds then just balanced yeah? Sorry I am slaying you with stupid questions.
stock cylinders 2+3 : #102. You having 105's across the board makes me want 105's across the board *whinges*.
that was in my track bike, I have 102's and 105's in my street bike, I have a stock air filter and aftermarket pipe
well i cant go back now, uni filter is in. I'll balance the crabs and see how she feels, if it still seems a little too lean I might jump the 102's up to 105's to offset the lean feeling.
Oki doke, so here's the proper update. I got home at hmmm... 6:30pm ish, it was a long day at work but for some stupid reason I believed this was gonna be a simple job. So the easy parts first. Welcome to my workshop lol. The mat on the ground is an exercise mat. Fuel tank off, no issues so far and I thought I was doing good on the clock. Air box cover, still no issues Filter out. I then removed the bottom bit of the air box and this is when Murphy decided to show his ugly face! The solid hard steel fastener that was holding the choke cable had a pretty innocent looking screw, I picked up one of my 2 screw drivers and gave it a go, the screw driver was too thin and I took some metal off. A bit of a laugh "oh wrong screw driver, ill just grab the bigger one", *takes more metal off* "hahaha that's okay I will just bend the bracket with my trust pair of pliers" *hard steel don't budge and hurts my hands*.... "NO!!! I WILL NOT LET THIS ONE SCREW FOIL MY PLANS!!! DAMN YOU SCREW!". So I walked back up 3 flights of stairs scared someone was gonna rob me of parts and tools, grabbed every screw driver in the house and came back down. Flat head in *more metal off* wider flat head in *more metal off* Pliers around the outside of the screw *a bit of squashed screw* different phillips head in.... OMG somehow the screw had a soft spot for that Phillips head and was like okay I will come out now. Ok good I thought, now time to continue. I started cracking open the insulator bands and then Phil wasn't kidding when he said u will need a long screw driver.... Dear Honda, why is it on the mc22 you decided "Hey you know what would be really funny! if on carb three instead of making the insulator band screw easy to reach by doing it like carb 4, we make it really hard and face it the same was as carb 1 and 2!!! HAHAHAHA" Reflecting back on my comment of "I have an L shaped allen key screw driver thing?" I feel pretty stupid. SO... holding a pair of pliers holding a screw driver with a length adapter and my hands half in the access point. "WORK!... WORK!!!!" 15 mins later "WORK!!!" and crack, got it. Time was running out, I couldn't afford anymore set backs. Ok so lift up the carbs no problem *30mins of rocking and pulling later.....* Ok so it was reaching about 10pm my phone had died and was on charge. I was using a cheap led light the kept turning off and I was like okay throttle cables.... *has a cigarette* I'M TIRED!!! I decided to undo the throttle stop cable, for some reason I couldnt get the pliers in the space so i loosened it completely off by hand ouchie! Turned the carbs upside down with the throttle cables attached and was like this is it! Its now or never! 1 by one I started putting the jets in. No problems (was SUPER careful not to drop anything). Turned the pilot screws, obviously no problem. Turned the carbs around again and took the diaphragm out and pull the needle out to find my washer was to big NO!!!!! Decided I had to bit the bullet because its not 11:15pm and I have run out of time. As I started putting it back together checking all the hoses and put the old choke screw back on (I will never take it apart again i thought) I got it back together and realized the throttle was sticking when twisting the wrist. omg the carbs have done a 360 and the throttle cables are twisted.... Feeling so defeated i sat down next to my bike and tried to force out some tears but they didnt come. Just an overwhelming sadness of "what have i done!". But no I didn't give up, this was not my destiny! after facing the SAME problem a second time of getting the choke screw off and the carbs STILL being hard as hell to pull off again I got it, unscrewed the throttle stop screw off again by hand (more ouchie) and spun the carbs 360 back in the right direction and started putting it all back together again. No issues from there and things started to go back together slowly. by about 11:40pm everything was back together. Non stop mechanics and my only break was 1 cigarette. No dinner, I stunk, everything hurt and THERE WAS NO FREEAAKING WAY I WASNT TAKING IT FOR A RIDE TO TEST!!! Turns on petcock, put on my gear and started her up. Ehh as expected a few minor issues getting it start, it was freezing and the carbs petrol was emptied ect ect but BAM she came to life. Jumped on flogged it down the street and back. Not too bad. Took it for a ride this morning to work, no problems but still needs tweaking id say. Def better than before though. next needles shim and balance! thank god the carbs dont have to come off to get the needles out....
