Swapped out the RH rears on the ACROSS..... all fits well. I wanted to fit the battery up but I am waiting for 2 plug leads (can't fit them with the battery box in place) and then we will see if this thing will start... I need to look for pictures of the fairing brackets... I only have 1 on the RHS and it is bent all out of shape... Also picked up some "bumper filler" so I might get the fairings finished and prepped for paint this weekend...
I like the stand... not so sure I would like to work over the top of the open pit though... Geez.. how long is it since I have seen an open pit in a home garage... I have changed a few clutches and oil changes etc in those in years gone by......
I just finished doing a clutch over the pit last week, it took about a month to do; between procrastination and frustration. I have some checkered plate I could put over the pit opening, but I'm pretty used to stepping around the opening. One of my friends was a mechanic for years, but he gets nervous around the pit - spoilt with hoists. I've had pits my whole life, actually.
picked up the bmw r65 and ca77 honda between showers and unloaded them.parcel arrived from joker-many thanks.having trouble getting onto site.anyone else having same hassles???put some marusho magnum electra parts in back of car off the 3rd pallet.long term project is to resurect one of the 123 made to match the one i bought out of a museum.then will have 2 of them.fitted a rear blinker [made of 2]onto the hornets rear guard- starting to see it coming back to life after its 2 day thrashing. kiffsta had some parts, seat cover from germany, some parts from honda out of japan and some parts from england. vandals do a good job.
Just been looking at where the rear indicators go on the ACROSS and couldn't find a spot on the bike... so I started looking at different pics and then realised the rear section of the rear guard which mounts the number plate as well as the indicators isn't there... and I know it won't get a Blue Slip without that section... not to mention the difficulty in mounting indicators... grrr something else to buy.
I think tidy tails are now acceptable in QLD, so check wit the mechanic doing the roadworthy. They are simple and mount number plate, lights, and indicators/flashers/winkers/signals.
Adjusted preload front and rear on the bike- it was -2c last night so I decided discretion was the better part of valor and stayed in. I'll ride tonight.
Hmmm not sure about NSW though... it doesn't matter, the prices are basically the same as the tail section from the wrecker... not as neat I admit but a safer bet for rego. Actually... I just went and had another look and it has a Tail tidy on it now... the Indicator pieces are adjustable and had been tucked up out of the way... hmmm Oh well... I will see what happens I guess.. $48 saved
In between plastic welding and preping the fairings I washed the car as I have someone interested in buying it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Since I wanted to work on the other bike (one of the other bikes that weren't on the raised workbench thingy), I made another workbench thingy. Welcome Mark II: It is more.... maneuverable than the first, shall we say. Made to fit bigger bikes, not sure it'll hold them. I have material for a third..
I lied- it's -5 tonight! This winter stuff is bullshit! I should throw the bike in the truck and flee to California!
oh yeah I get that. I know how that all works. That's part of what makes it so funny to me. I spent all the same months working on bikes as y'all. Now our bikes all run- only you guys get to RIDE yours!
